The cafe is within the Early Settlers furniture store there is a lunch cafe and the high tea area is the other side of the service counter. Needed to prebook given it was a voucher deal. We were delighted by the dining area set in amongst bling with chandeliers and mirrors table nicely set with enough attention to detail to make it special. We were offered a glass of the strawberry mocktail which was topped up and the jug left with us very generous. We ordered pots of tea and were delighted when the waitress offered a special blend that made everyone happy. A surprise find. A tiered stand arrived with the sandwiches and savoury offerings and another stand with the vegetarian food. The sandwiches were fresh, some bruschetta,a piece of sausage roll then came the scones and cream and jam, and cakes. The lemon curd tart was rich, the mini brownie okay, the tiny muffin was a little spongy and the teeny tiny poppy seed finger was dry. We had a lovely afternoon and while the offerings were not the highest of high teas it was a generous offering for a voucher deal. One of of group didnt make it so we had a lot to take away too. Didnt have time to wander in the store but if I am that way again and need a quick lunch I will browse and see what else is on offer. Very friendly staff and good service. We got our money's worth.
We visited pressed tin cafe in January of this year and what a feast we had! Truly exceeded value for money..copious amounts of cupcakes, tarts, quiches etc. (seen from images attached). food was exceptional... we rated it 5 stars... However, we revisited in September only to be astonished with the meagre rations provided. The scones were the size of a 20c piece (only one each).. The brownies were a 2cm square, the Victoria sponge cake was bite sized. The sausage rolls and vegetable slice were microscopic. Previously, we had a whole jug of a delicious mocktail to ourselves, but this time around we were poured a small, weak glass. What a discrepancy! Disappointed.
We came in for our high tea we booked in, only to be told they didn’t have a chef so they couldn’t offer high tea that day. Apparently they called the day before but didn’t leave a message or try to call again to let us know. No compensation was offered and now we need to find another day that all of us are available to go again before our (already paid for) voucher expires. Not impressed!!
We had breakfast here the March 2018 absolutely delicious. Went with 5 other adults and one 4 year old. We had purchased vouchers online an you would never have known we weren't paying cash. My husband had a vegetarian breakfast which was beautifully presented, fresh and different. They cater for all diets, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and normal. We were excited by the array of wonderful little cakes and pastries on offer if you wanted to take something delicious away with you. We had a few fellas who ordered the big breakfast and big it was, eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. etc. All the eggs were cooked to order perfection and they took special care of the 4 year olds needs. Coffee was delicious with none of that bitterness some cafes seem to manage! We had a huge, long skinny table at the front of the shop (furniture shop as well) plenty of elbow room and space for the many dishes. After a perfect breakfast we all took a wander through and fell in love with many pieces of beautiful furniture in the store. The feeling is light, airy, friendly and delightful I would recommend this café to anyone and everyone but make sure you book as its a bit of a hot spot at the moment!
Situated in the Early Settler store, the Pressed Tin Cafe High Tea was fantastic. There is a separate section for High Tea customers, nicely set up a relaxing ambience. Starting with a fruit mocktail, we received 3 tiers of fresh homemade savoury treats like sausage rolls, mini quiches and finger sandwiches. You can view their menu online. This was followed by beautiful sweet treats such as brownies, mini cupcakes and of course scones! My elderly mother and I enjoyed the experience immensely. We would highly recommend this cafe.
