It is a small family run business, lagoon tours and Restaurant. We went early in the day about 11:00 AM and we talked about what we would like to eat when we would come back from our lagoon tour. We asked for Shrimp, Fish and Beef dishes to eat family style among my family of 3 and Baldo. The father and son took us out on the boat We invited along Baldo. We went on a tour for about 2 hours of the lagoon and mangroves. Beautiful and relaxing time. We made a stop to jump in and swim. The son dove down and came up with fresh clay that he applied to my wife and daughters face, shoulder and arms. They said it would clean, draw out impurities and make skin feel great. They left it on for the remainder of the tour (about 40 minutes) and when we got back to the dock they went to wash off and to be honest they did feel a difference in their skin.We had lunch which was 10 out of 5 stars The entire family made you feel like a family member and welcome guest. The food and service was excellent specially made to our order. We had to tell them enough because we had so much to eat that we had to ask them to stop with the appetizers and tortilla's. The worst thing was excellent!!!
Los Bou Bous Restaurant and Laguna/Jungle tour is located just as you are getting into Barra Vieja on the lagoon side. It is a family business with Felix and his wife Elsa, their son Ivan and his wife, and their daughter Berenice. The day starts with a lagoon/jungle tour on a pontoon boat, through the manglares. Their are many different species of birds to be seen, and Felix knows them all. They also provide a cooler filled with cold beer, sodas and water. We stopped in an area of the lake known for its soothing mud and had facials done. We also stopped and did some fishing Mexican style. While we were doing this, Elsa and the girls were back at the restaurant preparing our lunch. We got back after about a 2 hour boat ride and had a delicious lunch. It started with sopes and 2 different salsas, guacamole, tomato and onion salad, huge shrimp prepared a la diabla and grilled with garlic, rice, beans and a huge sea bass, half of it prepared "a la talla" and half of it was with garlic. This is the best fish we have eaten in Acapulco. All of the food is fresh, and cooked over a wood fire. I have been there many, many times with various friends and family who come to visit and never tire of it, and they all loved it also. It is one of the nicest ways one can spend a day in Acapulco. It is such a tranquil relaxing place, and I highly recommend for everyone.
We read about Bou Bou on here and decided to go check it out. An interesting drive to find it but we were warmly welcomed. Very laid back and friendly people. Excellent guacamole. Ordered a variety of plates...mahi mahi, garlic shrimp, and chicken. The chicken was excellent, the fish average, and the shrimp were honestly the worst I've ever eaten in Acapulco. Would go back for beer and guacamole to sit around by the lagoon but I felt the reviews were overrated.
After a tour of the lagoon with Felix, we enjoyed a delicious fish meal prepared by his wife. The fish is fresh from the lagoon and was one of the highlights of our trip.
We wanted to visit the lagoon differently so we got in touch with captain Felix. We went on his pontoon for a 1.30 hr. And he told us the story of this marvelous protected area. Afterwards, we had the best robalo at his little restaurant where his wife cooks. Don't miss it.
