El Sol Restaurant-Bar

There were no recommended restaurants right on the beach in Puerto Marquez. Luckily, as you walk along the street, you can see right into most of the kitchens for the 50 restaurants along the beach. Prices seemed to be more or less the same, and so I looked for the cleanest kitchen. El Sol was the winner, and the breeze off the ocean, the cold beer, sitting in the shade looking out over the water was perfect.The restaurant claims specialties of: pulp, ceviche, option, cameron, alma, filet a la Veracruzana, Charola de Moriscos, Langosta al Ajo, and Cameron's en adobo.At home I never eat the skin on the fish I grill, too fishy for me. But the Huachinango a la Talla was the top fish dish on my list to try, a specialty of the Guerre coastal regions, and the skin is where much of the flavor lies. Not fishy at all, the citrus and other chili/tomato spices applied to the skin before grilling make the skin a wonderful tasting crust which does not overwhelm the fish. A beer, a bottled water and a whole fish 250 peso ($16 USD)
