Oscar's Mexican - Abilene

Our son is attending ACU and encouraged us to try this Mexican restaurant. We absolutely love authentic Mexican cuisine! Everything was cooked to perfection. The portions are huge, so be sure to have some room for leftovers (unless you're a hungry college student!). We'll definitely be coming back!

The service was a bit slow, but the food was decent. The chile relleno was topped with cheese instead of the traditional red sauce. However, their salsa was excellent—had a nice kick without being overly spicy. Adding that salsa to my chile relleno really elevated the dish. I would definitely return. It may not be perfect, but it's quite good.

The exterior of the restaurant appears a bit worn, but the interior is clean and well-maintained. The men's restroom was also tidy. My charming waitress was both professional and laid-back, which I appreciated. As for the food, it was rather unremarkable. It was very basic—not bad, just lacking in uniqueness or memorability. It seems they don't use much grease or spices, resulting in a straightforward and plain meal. I personally dislike greasy food, so I was pleased that it wasn’t that way, but I can't say it was outstanding either. Would I return? Perhaps, but only if I were staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to avoid crossing a busy street to find a meal elsewhere.

I absolutely love the chips and salsa! Got full on those before i got my food which was sour cream chicken enchiladas which were pretty good too. The problem i had was the service i wasnt ready to order when she brought the drinks and it took her about 30 minutes to come back for the order. Service was bad food is great!
