Durn House - Aberdeenshire

Located on the outskirts of town, this venue is conveniently within walking distance of the city center for dinner. The hotel offers dinner with a limited menu, but their excellent chef delivers delicious meals. We opted to dine in the hotel restaurant for our first night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The breakfast was also outstanding, especially the Porridge Brûlée which was rich and creamy (and probably very high in calories, but worth every bite!). Our room was spacious, although the lighting was a bit dim. The bathroom was large, with a glass shower in the center that could benefit from a towel hanger and shelf for toiletries. There was a dining table for breakfast in the room, but we chose to eat in the restaurant. The bed was large and comfortable, and the attentive staff added to the overall lovely experience.

We booked the Durn Suite for our wedding, which took place in the nearby village. The bridal party used the room to get ready on the big day and we stayed for a few nights following the celebration. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with antique furniture. The breakfast table setup was very traditional. The service provided by the staff was exceptional and all of our meals were delicious. The Crème Brûlée Porridge was a standout dish, especially when paired with whisky for a decadent breakfast. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly team at the hotel provided a peaceful escape each evening after the bustling activities with family and friends. The staff were very accommodating and the room was serviced to a high standard. We highly recommend staying at Durn House if you are in the area. The staff at this restaurant are lovely, welcoming, and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional, with a wide variety of options cooked perfectly. The room had a charming country house atmosphere, with a great shower and even a bathtub. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable for a good night's sleep.

I can't praise Durn House highly enough. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there. The food was truly excellent and the staff could not have been more delightful, looking after us and our dog, George with genuine kindness. The whole occasion felt like such a wonderful treat and even more remarkable, such good value that it could easily become our regular weekend destination. Highly recommended.
