Dobbies Garden World Aberdeen

We stopped at Dobbies for lunch today (Sunday) as it was early and usually you can get fairly good food here. We were very very disappointed to say the least. The hot food was mainly Sunday roast with veg. The choice was between turkey, pork and beef. The veg selection was peas, corn, carrots and broccoli which were okay. The roast potatoes were hard, the yorkies were awful rubbery and cold. The gravy was very watery and tasteless. Another hot food was fish and chips which was fine we had to wait for quite some time for it, ,didn't really mind as the restaurant was busy. The pot of tea was cold. This was the worst meal I have had there... considering the prices we paid for it. Dobbies have a good reputation for quality products whether it were plants or food in the restaurant. Today's experience totally changed that. I hope the management takes heed as they have certainly lost some very loyal customers.

Arrived at 12pm , the cooked food was just being put out. 2 staff members on the soup and sandwiches counter but no sign of anyone serving the hot food. After several minutes a guy appeared and started to unwrap all the salads and cheese. After more minutes he started to serve up. He had no idea what he was doing and he was on his own. Eventually got my order taken only to find a huge queue at the coffee department and check out. Again only one member of staff on each department. There was a massive queue behind me. The macaroni cheese I had was very tasty I must admit. They need more staff on.

This establishment really do need to invest in more staff. Once again the coffee machine was out of action, which meant big queues. By the time you get your coffee and then move to the tea queue, the coffee is cold.

Overpriced and all members of staff looked like they hated being there. Ps food was awful, cakes are not fresh they are bought in as the bakery is now closed

First impression, car park large amount of pot holes and outside looks unkempt. Inside not much better, cafe bleak and unwelcoming, staff quite friendly. Cherry scone……..find the cherry. Coffee ok However it was the toilets that were a disgrace Filthy throughout, dust and dirt everywhere, vents disgusting. Tiles missing and shabby Check list said they were checked regularly, not sure what was being checked. The toilet block hadn’t had a proper clean for a long time Most of the sinks had filthy bits of paper saying not in use and tap area tapped over. Go to Kellockbank and see how a garden centre should be presented to the paying public.
