Just a 10 – 15 minutes drive north of Aarhus you will find a beautiful 10.000 sq.m. Japanese garden in ”shinsen kaiyu-style” with a first class restaurant for lunch and or just a cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon with homemade cookies and cakes. The restaurant is named ”Park 13” and is located directly – although hidden – out to road no. 180. We were there on a nice warm summer day for lunch with a couple of good friends. Reservation was made in advance which is recommended. The weather allowed us to be seated outdoors in nice comfortable chairs at a big round table for four people with a view to one of the small lakes and with a mind soothing background sound of running water. From the menu the ladies ordered a plate of home cold smoked salmon and the men decided to go for the platter with smoked salmon and a choice of sausages and meat cuts. For beverages the ladies chose on recommendation from the waiter a bottle of Austrian white wine and the men ordered tap beer from one of the many new Danish micro breweries. The food was presented and served very nicely, the quality was in both cases excellent and plenty. The wine proved to be a good choice and the beer likewise. The service and the waiter was professional and present when needed. All in all a very positive experience. We shall definitely come back one day for another lunch and can give it our best recommendations. Mona Jens
