Arrived quite late into La Coruna, staying close to Maria Pita Square so stopped here for my first meal in La Coruna. It was excellent, with fresh bread, a few good beers and wine, then a few plates including padron peppers and gambas al ajillo. The food was delicious, and the the waiter looked so proud and happy when he took the lid off the gambas, and they tasted good!
We dropped in here for a light lunch of fried gambas€13.90 and I had ensalada templada which was lettuce, tomatoes, cooked gambas prawns, walnuts and warm goats cheese. It was delicious and just what I needed.€12.50. We also had a beer and sparkling water and lovely bread. The chef was female which I was delighted to see.
The second evening me and my family were in La Coruna, had a look at the wonderful Praza Maria Pita, where are a lot of restaurants and bars: and this looked quite good. We, as it usually happened to us, didn't find a waiter speaking English, but the famous Pulpo a la Gallega was a little disappointment, because the dish, not too bad as regards its taste, was full of potatoes, so that we paied for them like as for octopus ... Moreover, the helpings were not so big. Beautiful the atmosphere and the location, during the Festival of Maria Pita. Not so bad the croquetas ant the helping of Galician cheese
En nuestra visita a la Coruña cenamos un par de raciones muy buenas y la atención también buena, no es que hubiera ambiente pero tampoco lo necesitamos.
