So we went away one and a half block there is another Mexican restaurant, much better attention, and we actually have to taste the food!
Sitting with colleagues after work sessions, but one of my guys wore a coverall and apparently because a waitress told us that it was service only to go. Very disappointing such behaviors with people.
Perhaps there are a few good things on the menu that I will never try as I will never go back! We walked in at 6h30 pm and the waitress who looked bothered that some guests showed up said they didn't open until 6pm. We said that it was 6:30, so she gave us a seat in the absolutely empty restaurant. The music was playing so loud that we couldn't even hear ourselves talk. she had the nerve to ask for a tip before leaving. The entire neighborhood was packed with people in restaurants and bars eating and drinking watching the America's Cup. Feel sorry for the owner, but then again, why hire staff like that?
I'd certainly go again, though it was not anything special. We sat outside. Service was fine. Drinks were fine. Food was fine. Nice location.
I should have followed my first premonition. There were only two women eating in the restaurant when I arrived at 730pm on a holiday, Tuesday night. They later helped serve. I went hoping to find interesting, authentic Mexican food and was disappointed. The 2x1 margaritas were ok. The guacamole was boring. It was basically an avocado diced and mixed with a pinch of red onion. It was missing cilantro, lime, and a little tomato. The chips were unique and hard. I ordered the Tacos Barbacoa. I was surprised to be served hard taco shells similar to what you'd find in the USA only harder and more brittle. Real Mexican tacos are served with corn tortillas. The meat was good, but hadn't been roasted very long as Barbacoa would imply. It wasn't tender like you'd find at Chipotle. It was more of a Guisada, or stewed. The restaurant would benefit from experimenting with recipes the can be found online. I spent $75 for what you can get in the States for under $40. I recommend passing on the restaurant.
