Be warned, they have honey in some dishes, and candy ect, and it will be vegan until you specifically ask if there is honey and then there is. You answer all questions about ingredients. You need to specifically ask if something has milk or honey and what the ingredients are and not only if it is vegan because they tell you it vegan if it is not. By the way, I had the Bibimbam set lunch with 2 pages and an additional page and a tea for 320. It was incredible. The sweet potato fries were from heaven.
My wife and I loved our experience at Shu [censored] NanHai. We called ahead to confirm that they could do vegan dishes (which they're more than happy to do) and got their set menu for lunch. Everything was so delicious and there was more than enough food to satisfy our hunger. Even though we had just three days in the area, we returned to Shu [censored] NanHai again to have their set menu for dinner. Once again, the food (and the ambiance) was excellent. The staff are very delightful and flexible, but it is absolutely necessary to have a Mandarin speaker in your group (particularly if you want assurance that your meal will be vegan). They are happy to make customizations to suit your needs, and the service is friendly and efficient.
We ate here for the second time today, the first time was in late February. The first time we had the 火龍果炒飯(dragon fruit fried rice and the 麻婆豆腐炒飯 (Sichuan style , this time we ate the 香椿炒飯 (pesto like style, for the me the best dish on the menu! and the 韓式拌飯 (Korean Bibimbap . As sides we had the sweet potatoes, fries and the deep fried veggies. All dishes were great, very flavourful and beautifully arranged. All dishes except for the Bibimbap came with three small sides (pineapple beetroot, chayote vines leaves, bamboo shoot , a soup and a desert (once we got pumpkin millet pudding, the other time a kind of jelly made of multiple different fruits . The bread contains milk, but all other dishes are vegan and if you are not certain, the waiter was very friendly and professional and we very satisfied with the service he even remembered the first time we came here in February. Tip: The signature menu must be pre ordered, so if you plan to eat here, I recommend to order in advance. We didn't have a chance to eat it yet as both our trips were rather spontaneous, but we saw other people eating it and it looked great.
Have been to Taiwan over 20 times. This was the best meal I have ever had here. My Taiwanese friends discussed the menu with the staff, so I did not have experience asking about honey or milk (see other review for this restaurant). Staff prepared all dishes without mushrooms or fungus of any kind (by request). Small dish of tempura eggplant was the best eggplant I have ever tasted. Spicy noodle dish was fantastic. All vegetables super fresh. Top quality. And great ambiance.
This is a lovely family owned restaurant serving healthy set meals made from locally grown organic ingredients. It is often quite busy so it is best to book ahead. Staff were very friendly and the food was good.
