The only downside is that the waiting area can be crowded when the restaurant is full, and waiting outside during the winter can be uncomfortable.
I walked about 40 minutes from Ushio Jinja Shrine to Shiomachi Karakoto-dori to have lunch. I ordered the Sushi Katsu Gozen set, which included Thai, bonito, squid, and amberjack sashimi, simmered potatoes, carrots, and daikon radish in a slightly sweet sauce, grilled and pickled mackerel, pickled ginger, miso soup, and ten pieces of nigiri sushi. The restaurant had a homely atmosphere and was constantly bustling with customers. The portion size was generous, but the rice tasted slightly bland and the toppings were average. Overall, I think it's reasonably priced.
I stopped by for lunch on May 12th, Reiwa 3. After visiting Gokonomiya Shrine (recommended shrine), I asked the lady at the shrine if she had any recommendations for a restaurant, and she kindly introduced me to this place. The lunch set (sushi, miso soup, pickles) was around 800 yen. It was a bit on the smaller side for a woman, but the sushi portion for 800 yen was quite worth it. I was dining with a female friend, and although we thought about ordering another plate, we decided to stop at about 80% full. In hindsight, it was probably a good decision not to order another plate as we ended up feeling pleasantly full. I believe they also had set meals. The prices were reasonable, so you can enter with peace of mind. We parked at a parking lot near the seaside ferry terminal. If you want to enjoy sushi at a reasonable price in Ushimado, this is a recommended restaurant. I will definitely visit again.
