The Ramen had a soy sauce base with a slight acidity. The Tanmen had a vegetable salt flavor, light and easy to eat. The gyoza had slightly more meat, but the skin was firm and the perfect level of crispiness.
I tried the sauce katsudon. The meat was tender and the breading was light, making it easy to eat. The sauce had just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness. Personally, I really enjoyed the side pickles as well.
The miso ramen here is a hidden gem, especially delicious with extra garlic. When I told the landlady how addictive the taste was, she agreed. The noodles are slightly thinner than in other shops in Minami-Aizu, but they are easy to slurp and cooked just right to my liking. I found them to be of a high standard. The katsu don is usually sweeter in other shops, but here it has a perfect balance of flavors that keeps you coming back for more. The sauce katsu don has a shiny appearance with the heated sauce poured over the fried cutlet, making it delicious to look at as well. The ramen also has a nostalgic taste that reminds me of Chinese soba.
