Of course you will have to spend some time, as the dishes are freshely prepared. As there are excellent portugese wines, this not a real problem, it is not a eat an run kind of spot. I honestly don't understand the negative postings. I will certainly go there again pretty soon, as I don't know any better seafood restaurant in Zurich. Enjoy..
Not far from downtown.
We are not Portugues - but I tend to say that this place puts you directly somewhere in Portugal (in the middle of Zurich). Good service and nice bacalhau marisqueira! We will come back!
My family and I visited this restaurant close to Letzigrund the day of the swiss cup match given the lack of other open options. The place itself is not bad, but very old-style and the light went on and off because of some electrical problems. The waiter was very nice though and could speak also italian, which is of course a plus since schwiizerdutsch is very difficult to understand for ticinesi. The menu was quite extensive but, compared to ticino, extremely expensive; we chose raviolis, pasta and octopus. Pasta was barely sufficient, as it was overcooked and submerged into oil, the other dishes were quite good. Overall i would suggest you to visit this place only to eat fish, as it is what they are best at. If you wanna have pasta rather go to one of the many italian restaurants in the city
I am Portuguese and was thrilled to invite some friends over to try some authentic Portuguese food, but got a bit disappointed. The entries were delicious, but none tasted or looked authentic Portuguese. Some of the main courses were disappointing, specially the cod fish. We had two cod fish plates ( 1) oven cod fish and 1) "Abras" cod fish) both were too dry and tasteless. The "Bitoque" (steak with fried egg and fries) was good and the only plate i found real authentic (however, since this is a "Marisqueira" which is a specialized restaurant for sea food, i would expect the seafood to be the highlight, instead, it seemed like they can do better with meat...).We also had grilled fish which was fresh and well cooked but again it did not feel like a Portuguese dish.. The staff are friendly and efficient, the wine selection was decent. Consider this an average Portuguese restaurant with quite a lot of potential for improvement.
