Cafe Hesed - York

Hesed means loving kindness. When I asked the lovely woman who owns and operates Hesed, she said she chose the name from the Bible. And she chose well. Hesed is a wonderful spot to meet a friend for a treat or lunch, or you might...just want to take your book and sink into one of the big comfy chairs with a delicious cup of latte or chai tea and a homemade goodie. I recommend the banana bread. There is a focused menu and all of the food is freshly prepared and very yummy.

Been back to Cafe Hesed many times since the original review and I'm upgrading it to 5 stars.

Run by a Korean lady and I guess thats why they have Korean dishes on the menu.

We went in and there was no one. we ordered the Korean bbq panini to share between us and also coffee. this was at the coffee itself serving so that I poured a cup and the cream only to discover that the coffee was warm. I mentioned it to the man who took our order and he apologised and took the cup back. I thought he'd give me another cup to try the other coffees that could be hot. No, instead he took my coffee and dampened him to warm him again. the reason why it was warm was because it obviously had long been sitting. we knew it was closed so that we kept the watch in the eye and our a panini was finally eaten to us quickly and it tasted okay, but nothing special. kind of bland. we came here a few years ago and experienced the same incredibly long wait for a sandwich so that we never went back. I thought we would try again, but once a minute wait for a sandwich and a warm reheated coffee. not impressed. the ambiente is really beautiful and the seating is very comfortable. I'm not back.
