York Theatre Royal

This restaurant is no longer in operation. We arrived expecting to be seated, only to find out that it had closed, despite receiving an email from OpenTable confirming our reservation the day before. Although there were still some food items available for purchase, the service was very basic.

We were informed that the restaurant was closed due to the demands of a current production. They mentioned that they intended to call us with this information, didn't they? We had to leave the café with limited options because we couldn't wait at the restaurant. While there was no charge for the meal, it was not what we had anticipated, and it was all very disappointing.

I found the menu to be quite limited, even though our experience was decent. There were no vegetables included with the meals, which had to be ordered separately. The ambiance was a bit unsettling and rather chilly, despite it being June. The service was good, but we likely won't return, as there are many other dining options available in York.

We had a very pleasant pre-theater menu. table in the window, good service and a tasty main course with crumbling and roasted vegetables. I'd like to do that again.

Went for a pre theatre dinner . Restaurant had a good atmosphere and staff were friendly. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. My husband andI had a two course set menu which had a good choice of Starters and main course. Salmon fish cakes for starters were nice and my husbands pate was also good. Both main courses were really nice the risotto was excellent and my husband had a chicken dish which he equally enjoyed. Would definitely return.
