I don't know what was wrong with the fish, but I was sick all morning on Thursday after eating it on Wednesday night. I tried to make my way home but had to stop in Newcastle overnight and spent 4 hours being sick. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. I hope someone from the chip shop will address this issue. My advice is to stay away. I have noticed that all the bad reviews are not responded to on here, while good reviews get a thank you. You would think they would want to improve, but apparently not.
I have been a loyal customer at this restaurant for a couple of months because they assured me that they do not fry fish in the same oil as meat. However, today they informed me that they do in fact fry fish and meat together, which is unacceptable for someone who follows a pescatarian diet. I am very disappointed with this news and will not be returning to this establishment.
According to Google, it was believed that there was a dine-in option at this restaurant. However, it turned out to be takeaway only. The owner found humor in the situation when I mentioned the search results to him. He quickly improvised by setting up a makeshift dining area with three waiting chairs and a bench next to the counter. As we savored the tasty fish and chips, more customers arrived (carrying suitcases) and inquired about the location of the restaurant. The owner jokingly offered to bring out more chairs if they were willing to wait. It was a very accommodating and entertaining experience overall!
Got a piece of fish and it was very good and fresh. Batter was light, and the fish was tasty. Service was friendly and welcoming. Very good place for a quick snack.
Very good Fish and chips. Freshly fried. Small bench to eat outside adds a bit of climate. Definitely worth a try... and you will save pound or two compared to city centre. And this is still city centre ;
