Bella Italia - York

I recently dined at Bella Italia on Petergate and was pleasantly surprised to find a separate vegan menu with plenty of options. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also charming and the service was friendly. I ordered the tomato bruschetta as a starter and the cheeseburger with coleslaw and chips for my main. Unfortunately, they initially forgot the cheese on my burger, but they quickly rectified the mistake and brought me the correct order. The burger was absolutely delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was too full to try the Cookie Dough dessert this time, but it looked fantastic. Overall, Bella Italia on Petergate is a reliable option for vegans and those dining with non-vegans alike. I highly recommend it.

There are still some vegan options on the limited post-lockdown menu, but one of them was disappointing. I ordered the vegan version of the caramelized onion and mozzarella flatbread, but it arrived dry and without any cheese, even though vegan cheese was an option. The vegan margherita pizza had cheese, but not enough, making it quite dry. However, the vegan meatball pasta was delicious and the standout dish of the meal.

I scanned the regular menu for vegan options and was pleased to discover that they offer a separate vegan menu upon request. I highly recommend asking for it, as there are plenty of delicious options to choose from. I decided to try the Vesuvio pizza with a tasty meat alternative which was spicy and absolutely delicious. For dessert, I indulged in a coconut panna cotta that was incredibly tasty. They also have a variety of options for chocolate lovers that I would love to try next time. Overall, I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

Eating was always excellent here for my last visits. it is very nicely cooked, full of taste and generous in the portion sizes (not too much so, they are not overground.) the service speed is good and the staff is always very friendly. there is also a good atmosphere over the square with background music playing and the light airy free space.

A new menu, nice staff, lots of parking. the service was on time. the food was excellent for this type of event place. recommend the salsiccia mezzal and the zucca dolcelatte. the tiramsiu is a joy. limoncella most.
