I was not disappointed - the welcome we received, including our dog, was very warm. The atmosphere was lovely, the beer exceptional, and the dishes we ordered were delicious. The steak in particular was tender and flavorful, accompanied by a generous serving of peppercorn sauce. What really made the experience special was the outstandingly friendly service, especially from Theresa and her colleague. It turned out that all three men at our table were also celebrating birthdays, and we were treated to sweet treats with candles and singing. By the end of the meal, we felt like we had dined with new friends. The Stag and Huntsman truly has it all. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Beautiful pub and restaurant, but disappointing that they have no vegetarian frying and no alternatives. vegetarian and vegan options very bad on a Sunday. I had only the kartoffels veg on their own, without heavy, as they had only bark-heavy. they still blamed me for the full price. they could have gone better.
Nice eating in very pleasant dining room, friendly staff. this pub is a very special place
Nice pub, warm and cozy, service was slow- I had pasta, which was delicious, asked if I was it as main- I said yes- it came before everyone else eating and I was double for what was most definitely like a beginning, no apology or recognition of tiny overpriced portions. my brother had snuggled, again he was asked if he wanted this as pornstar, said yes, it came with the net, but was a tiny part less than a third of a bowl, loaded double, no apologies and a bit of a wrangle to get her to reduce the bill. I would go back for the location and the niceness of the pubs, but would suggest a greater clearness of the prices on the menu for starter w main courses and train the personal how to deal with problems like this, as it can ruin a meal to have no problems skillfully solved.
We booked in Oct after seeing the Xmas menu and having been here many times felt on 23/12 it would be a romantic xmas dinner. They had our booking and were expecting us but no record that we had booked in person for the xmas dinner which as a result meant we could not have anything off it. We were adivsed the only difference between that and the normal menu was the turkey roast which is not my recollection from seeing it in Oct and if so, why have a xmas menu when it is no different to the normal meun and encourage us to visit under false pretences. We chose off the limited menu a Thai prawn curry. I could have done better myself. The curry was just spiced rice with aubergines and a few cooked prawns on top that had not been flavoured at all. When my partner queried and said it was very average the waitress agreed it was not the best dish on the menu but no attempt was made to discount. We had the pate as a starter which was fine but after the main course left without dessert or coffee but having wasted best part of a £100 for a wholly inadequate experience. The fire had gone out, the ambience was not festive and the food poor. Even the carpet looked like it had not seen a hoover in weeks. I will await a response as I wonder if the pub can afford to lose regualrs in this way however lovely the location
