Przekaż informację zwrotną2nd visit to this great little pub, again for lunch with friends. We ran a bit late, but we phoned ahead and they kindly put our reservation back 30 minutes. We all had three courses today, and we all enjoyed everything we had. Good menu, with vegetarian options, and a great range of drinks. Good team working there too, thank you all.
Amazing food, would definitely recommend! Family and dog friendly. Staff are polite and respectful.
My family and I came here for a gathering and birthday celebration. We were seated in the bar area in a slightly strange arrangement, with one person at the end of a separate bench. The waiter/owner offered to move us, but we were fine where we were. We had booked in advance and were surprised by the seating arrangement. We returned after a previous visit in the summer where we sat in a cozy side room, which I recommend for small groups. The pub overlooks a beautiful churchyard and has a rustic interior with scythes on the wall and examples of wattle and daub. It was warm and comfortable, despite being very quiet on a Saturday lunch. The service was a bit slow, taking 2 hours for 2 courses. The food, however, was excellent - well-cooked, well-presented, and hot. There was a good variety of dishes, including traditional burgers, spiced dishes, and vegetarian options. I had the roast duck, while others in my party had burgers, sausages, and ribs, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The desserts were just as good, with a good selection to choose from. The servers were polite and attentive. Overall, it was a very good experience, though I'm not sure how the service would be during busy times.
This is a really lovely welcoming pub that serves a good selection of drinks in confortable surroundings. Staff are charming although a little inexperienced and inattentive, our waitress kept leaning over us to hand out menus and food and never returned to check food was ok or if we needed more drinks. The selection of beer, cider, wine and soft drinks was very good the lunchtime food however was a ok but a bit underwhelming . There were no specials so we selected from the main menu and the food was ok but the chips were more like fries and were very bland, as was the cajun potator wedges that came with an equally bland lamb skewer and really had no cajun spice. Desserts were a lot better and the coffees were ok but took ages to come on what was a very quiet lunch service. Overall we felt a bit disappointed with the experience given the positive reviews from others .
What a great find, we couldn't fault the Castle in any field. Lovely food well prepared and presented, and great friendly and attentive staff, especially the bubbly Lu-lu who looked after us admirably. The menu (boosted with some specials) isn't vast which means everything is fresh and prepared for that session, but what it has should meet the requirements of any diner. I ordered the mussels from the special list as a starter, served beautifully and we're superb, would be a credit to any French seafood restaurant. A healthy portion that for many could have served as a main meal. The two ladies opted out of starters and had fish and chips which was a sensible move as the portion was large and apparently superb. I had a half cajun chicken which defeated me and i had to resort to a people bag.Nice desert list as well. If you're anywhere local looking for a meal don't miss the castle but book as it gets very busy as you'd expect reading this.
