Rubens Coffee - WIRRAL

Upon entering the restaurant, I was met with a strong unpleasant odor. If it weren't for my business client choosing this location, I would have left immediately. The coffee I ordered was served cold, but apparently it was supposed to be an iced latte so I'll give them a pass on that. However, the atmosphere quickly took a turn for the worse when a masked man with a sawn-off shotgun robbed the cash registers. Not exactly the family-friendly environment I was expecting. To top it off, when I asked the manager for a napkin, she spat in my face. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment.

I recently visited Rubens Cafe for the first time and while I have been to other locations in the past, this was my first experience at this particular branch. I went with a friend and unfortunately, we were not satisfied with our visit. The eggs were overcooked, it took an hour and a half to have our plates cleared, and the staff did not check in to ensure everything was going well.

After visiting other Rubens branches, we were let down by the lack of quality at this particular location. The coffee shop was bustling during our visit and only had two staff members working, resulting in a longer wait for our food. When our meals finally arrived, we found that my eggs were undercooked and the plates and teapot had multiple chips. While the food itself was decent, our overall experience was disappointing.

I have been a regular at this coffee shop since it first opened, but I have noticed a decline in quality, especially in terms of customer service. When I walked in, I saw five tables filled with dirty dishes and the three staff members were gossiping with each other. It took half an hour for some tables to be cleared, while others were cleaned by customers. The girl who served me was incredibly rude, not even smiling as she took my order. She forgot my order and when she finally brought my tea, she did so without a word or a smile. She also repeatedly forgot who ordered what and shouted each drink order to the entire shop. The coffee shop is always cold, the floor is unclean, and the atmosphere is non-existent. I will not be returning.

I have always enjoyed meeting up with friends at this restaurant, but I was disappointed last week to see people bringing their dogs inside. This seems to be a new policy, and I was put off by the smell of wet dog while trying to enjoy my cappuccino. I did not see any signs allowing dogs inside, so I am curious if this is now permitted.
