Vanxai's Laos Thai Restaurant

Had a great time at this restaurant. We went to a few places that were fully booked and couldn't get us in at 6pm without a reservation on a saturday night. Luckily when we called there was plenty of space. At first entry, the booths look a little tired but are comfortable and offer plenty of space. Service was quick and easy and we were never left wanting or needing anything. The food was excellent, large portions and well priced. Its certainly a hidden gem for Laotian food in town! Give it a try!

A great find in the St. Vital area. Near the junction of St Anne 's and St Mary 's and easy to get to, it had a variety of Thai and Laotian dishes. The crab rangoon was excellent and the gang keow wan gai (green curry coconut soup with chicken was to die for. I had just spent 3 months in Thailand, and it was as good as any I had there. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the dishes were huge. Many dishes were in the $14 to $15 range and could easily be shared by two people. The atmosphere felt like a friendly homestyle restaurant. We will definitely be back.Our server was a Thai lady named Meow and the Laotian cook was named Vanxai (pronounced van SIGH , the same name as the restaurant- Vanxai 's.

One on Winnipegs hidden gems.Delicious Laotian Thai restaurant in St.Vital.Huge portions and great value.Wonderful flavors and friendly staff. Highly recommended.Tip: Try the chicken fried rice and massaman chicken.. they're both amazing!

I’m usually not satisfied with many of Winnipeg restaurants and it’s hard to satisfy my taste! but when it comes to authentic Thai food Vanxai’s wins big times ! and if I could give them 10 stars I will ! Great customer Service, Amazing Thai food and taste, generous portions and reasonable price, clean, cute and welcoming atmosphere and on top of everything wonderful people! Thank you so much ! After 5 years in Winnipeg I finally can have a great lunch and dinner experience any day!

Its been a long time since we were last here. It did not disappoint. Food was excellent, portions were massive. Spring rolls vegetable, are large, and they serve 5. We had Pad Thai with chicken and it was delicious and again heaping portions (enough for tomorrows dinner! Good pricing, wonderful service.
