The Willistead - Windsor

I'm not wowed by the food at this restaurant. I paid $5 to eat a bbq watermelon? (My choice, I was curious) The service was painfully slow and the food was tasteless and over priced. My family lives in Walkerville and I walk by this place for a reason....

Went to The Willistead for dinner Saturday evening. We had an enjoyable meal. The unique menu offerings was a nice change. The food was tasty; we enjoyed their Tomato soup, Asparagus Fritters as apps, and then ate their Portabella burger and Veggie burger. Our waitress was good, though she was a little stiff, she gave good food advice and checked in regularly with us. We got there a little early for the dinner crowd (6:30pm), so the energy of the restaurant was not there. We will return.

I can appreciate busy times. And unexpected arrivals. But when friends and I arrived it was slow, couples and groups arrived behind us and we're served before us, drinks and such deliver before us, yet we were told it was because the bar was behind. When we asked to leave the server said "or your Drinks are ready, I just need to bring them out "! It was frustrating.

I brought 25 youth here that belong to a youth group I facilitate for a special evening/celebration. Allister was our waiter and was very thorough and patient with our group. The menu for the younger crowd we had was a little overwhelming at first just as very trendy and different. However when those burgers rolled out... WOW! Jaws dropped. Most popular item ordered by our group was the willistead burger. I think 12 of the youth ordered. We had several eureka burgers. A bison burger. Steak sandwich that was huge and a growing teen boy took home to enjoy the rest later!! We had a fried chicken sandwich, steak Cobb sandwich. Two chickpea fritters. Youth raved about the fries! They as young people were also extremely impressed out of a party this large there was not one error or issue! They asked to send a card to staff because they were so impressed. Thanks to the Willistead for making this a special night for 25 youth in our community!

This is not someplace I would return to. It has great appeal if you are looking for a neighborhood hang out or a trendy local flavor place, but overall it fell flat to me. Service was sub-par, the food took a long time, and overall I was simply unimpressed. I will say the younger co-workers I was traveling with enjoyed it more.
