An overall nice experience makes us want to go back there again.
During our recent stay in Windsor, we visited several bars but kept finding ourselves returning to the Queen Victoria. The QV is a charming bar with a warm atmosphere and the bartender Natalie was incredibly friendly. It quickly became our favorite spot for drinks, and we would definitely come back again.
While walking down the street, a girl approached my boyfriend and me. She was clearly intoxicated and expressed feeling scared, asking us to accompany her past a group of shady men outside the Queen Vic. Without hesitation, we agreed. During our walk, we inquired about her ride home, to which she mentioned it would arrive in about 25 minutes. Aware of the freezing weather and her vulnerable state, we took her into a nearby pub so she could use the restroom and wait indoors until her ride arrived. Surprisingly, the barmaid insisted she leave immediately after using the restroom, despite there being plenty of vacant chairs. When I questioned why she couldn't remain inside for her safety for a mere 20 minutes, the response was a cold "Sorry love". This experience made me question the concept of a "public house" being a place of community support and basic decency towards one another. I would rather buy my drinks at a supermarket for half the price than patronize an establishment that lacks hospitality. What's the point of drinking in a place that is unwelcoming and fails to prioritize the safety and well-being of its patrons?
Yesterday, my experience at this small pub located on the corner of a busy street in Windsor was disappointing. The appearance of the pub was pleasant, but the welcome we received from the woman serving us was dull and uninviting. It was only after someone else informed us that we learned about the outside back garden seating area. The drinks were mediocre and the service was poor.
Amy was fantastic such a star. Best service in Windsor!!! She was really kind and served us as best as she could despite all the chaos! Lovely experience!
