Arrived here at 12:50 p.m. on a Wednesday for lunch and no staff were in evidence…just ear-splitting music and one lonely customer at a table. It appears that this cafe is in trouble. We quickly left.
Omg the French toast was soooo good for breakfast I had to go back another day to enjoy it one more time. The service was great, staff very friendly
The food I had today was absolutely Devine. The service was great and I had my food and drink in an instant. Was completely clean and had a beautiful scent from all of the amazing looking food around me. I would come again and recommend for everybody.
After spending 6 days on Long Island we came to experience a night in Airlie beach before flying home. Found the village café whilst looking at the sites looked the menu thought let’s have dinner there. Was really keen on some seafood so decided to have a share plate called the “lot”….prawns, scallops, squid, local fish,steak(180 grams)chicken skewers chips salad for $90(to share) When the above order was served it came out raw with 2 hot rock stones(1 each) for us to cook ourselves?? This was never mentioned to us or on the menu but thought why not. The following was what was provided to share between us, 100grams of chicken, 4 prawns 3 scallops 5 squid rings 100 grams of fish 100 grams of steak Handful of chips very small bowl of Greek salad. Seemed very light on the condiments for the price for a share plate of 2 people the hot rocks heat wasn’t hot enough to cook everything. Ordered to cocktail drinks, 1 expresso martini (not to bad) 1 Long Island T which came out looked/tasted like a Bacardi coke. Discussed with my partner on how everything was thought not to bad as the company made things ok, Then just as we were finishing off they came out started running around the dining area….RATS RATS more RATS! When the male waiter came over to clean up our area, we informed him that there were rat’s running around our feet, to which he stated “ oh really are you sure??!!” I asked for the manager to come speak to us. The manager came out to speak to us once we told her, she stated that she knew about the RATS but she could not do anything about them as they were native to the area, she also stated that she had contacted the local council on several occasions there was nothing they could do to help her as they were protected could not be harmed, She also stated that she had had the business for 19years the reason for the RATS being a problem was because of storm’s construction near by which was bringing them out to eat at her restaurant. I find it difficult to believe that after such a long time of being in business with these RATS present the whole time that she hasn’t found a way to deal with them in a public eatery which brings the following questions, 1- is it hygienic to serve food with the RATS being around all the time? 2-should she have signage letting people know that she has native RATS the restaurant on a daily/nightly basis? 3- what sort of insurance is required for a member of the public who could get bitten or ill from the presence of these animals also what is the manager’s responsibility? 4- should the department of health be notified of this if as the manager states has been a problem for 19 years?? So to close my above comments it was disappointing to experience what had happened with the RATS the way we were treated once the issue was brought to the management’s attention, my partner was very shaken after experiencing this with her being very frightened with the whole ordeal. We won’t be eating at this establishment again would hopefully like to see the above problem resolved
