South College Sandwich Deli

Here comes the Magnificent Trio, yet with another review of the splendors of food Wilmington has to offer! Turn your heads to this place that thrives on one of the best sandwiches in Wilmington, The Beef Weck. Now granted, me being Cuban decided to go a different route and try the Cubana because it 's not easy finding authentic Cuban sandwiches or cuisines around Wilmington. Tell you what, when I took a bite out of this sandwich, I went from a speedy bite to a slow motion bite as the flavors marinated all senses of my taste buds. It was incredibly delicious and made me think of the Cuban sandwich, Media Noche. , which is like a Cuban sandwich only in a midnight snack form. As we say in Cuba, Delicioso! As for the other two, they both had the Soprano and were so impressed that just the sandwich itself was enough to satisfy their stomachs without needing the extra sides that came along with the sandwiches. The chips were definitely soft and satisfying along with the cole slaw that my friend now wants to make a comparison between that one and his grandmother 's. Definitely on par, but who will be the winner? Now, I came here several times before and had the famous Beef Weck which absolutely beats Arby 's. They got the meats, but this deli got the taste because such a simple sandwich could make even the most hungriest man satisfies with just one. And on top of that, the potato salad definitely brings back the childhood memories of having potato salad at a birthday party. So much goodness and definitely a great location considering you can spend the entire day in the area. Got Sam 's Club, Gigi 's Cupcakes, Gamestop and many other areas which even your pets could be serviced with the PetCo next door. I tell you what Yelpers, this deli is a worth going experience and highly recommended! So enough reading and go already! You 're missing all the tastiness that this place has to offer!

This place was still busy on a Tuesday at 1:45 in the afternoon, so you know its going to be good! My sandwich was on point-loaded up with meat, and just the right amount of sauce. I loved that it was lightly grilled-the bread was still soft, but golden. The homemade chips were excellent-seasoned with the right amount of pepper. This was definitely worth the money! I will be visiting here again soon!

Wow! My boyfriend and I have been upset ever since Chips Deli in Wrightsville closed, but then we discovered this little gem. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I had, but it truly brought joy back into my life. I highly recommend adding the pesto mayo to anything—it’s so delicious I'd eat it by the spoonful! The sandwich was perfectly pressed, and the bread was incredibly soft. The shop is quite small and finding a seat can be tricky, but whether you dine in or take out, the food is absolutely amazing!

Hands down...the GOAT Deli!!! Not just in Wilmington, North Carolina...anywhere!!! It 's National Sandwich Day so...why not South College Deli for one of theirs? Although I have eaten here on 4 or 5 previous occasions, I had never posted a review I feel ashamed for it. However, today was the best day to prepare for a full review I hope you enjoy what you 're about to read. FOOD: Beef on Weck w/ side of house potato salad, Lumina (Grilled) Cheese w/ house ribbon fries Reuben on White w/ side of potato salad. ALL served w/ fresh bread made on site. This needs to be noted. The Beef on Weck was served w/ creamy fresh-ground horseradish au jus. I cannot even begin to explain how good the Beef on Weck is. It is a sandwich unlike any other. The fresh roast beef, combinations of flavors dipping patterns deliver a unique bite each and every time until you realize it 's almost gone. The bread....oh my, the bread. I 'm not a huge bread , pasta or carb guy at all but this bread is on another level that I have not even come to close to having before. The Reuben is the best Reuben I have ever tasted is usually my go-to sandwich at S. College Deli but I had to do this review on their signature Beef on Weck sandwich. 5 STARS! Best I 've ever tasted. Seriously. SERVICE: Quick, efficient, organized, friendly cares about their guests. This team has positive energy all around is always a pleasure to place an order here. Our service excelled today due to my son 's Lumina Cheese Sandwich having mustard on it I failed to notice this during my ordering. When he would not eat his sandwich, I politely asked if it could be re-made w/ the cheeses only no sauces. The response was a simple yes, no problem . No hassle, no questions...no problem. Within 5 minutes, a new sandwich was brought to our table with a smile. The young guy assisting us, excelled at his service so much so, it blew my mind. 5 STARS! OVERALL SCORE: 4.7 STARS!! Why not a full, solid 5-STAR Review??? Well, it has nothing to do with their food or service. Those both reign supreme. The restaurant could use more seating or maybe accept that you 're so damn good, it may be time to open another location or 2?!?! If you 're local have not tried this place....DO IT. If you 're on vacation or visiting Wilmington...this is the place to get an elite sandwich.

If you make almost everything in house you are eligible for 5 stars. Then add in great prompt, service and unusual options (beef on weck even though I am not a fan). Fresh made bread, fresh made sides, and clean updated seating area? I guess that is why there was a line to order on a Sunday during low season and before college was in session. Do it right, do it fresh, and we will eat it!
