What I want to know is why is it my fault for your incorrect signage and your time keeping to get to the restaurant on time. We live 20 minutes away from the restaurant so in total it took us 80 minutes for two trips because they make their own hours up the owner really needs to sort the rude manager out and your signage. Won’t be coming back to here again serious avoid as the food after being sat there for so long was so terrible as well.
Impromptu date night, after being let down at another Indian Restaurant in the area we came here… We weren’t disappointed Food was banging and the service was friendly.
Last night, myself and two friends visited The Raj after our first choice nearby was closed. The restaurant was quite busy for the time of year, which is always a good sign. I was impressed with the friendly and professional service. The menu had plenty of options to choose from, and we took advantage of the 'early bird' offer available from Monday to Thursday. The food was delicious - the popadoms were fresh and crispy, the starters were well presented and hot, and my chicken tikka jalfrezi had a nice kick to it. The breads and rices were also excellent. The biggest surprise of the night was the final bill for the three of us - only £68 for four popadoms, three starters, three mains with rice, a side salad, one naan bread, three large bottles of Cobra beer, and two pints of diet Coke. It was an absolute steal, and despite the half hour drive, I will definitely be returning to The Raj.
My family and I, coming in as first-time visitors to this restaurant, felt extremely unwelcome. We were looking forward to enjoying a nice Christmas evening Indian dinner, but from the moment we arrived, we were neglected. It took a long time for a waiter to even take our drink order - we waited for 15 minutes without any acknowledgment. When a waiter finally approached us, he ignored us and focused on resetting the table next to us. Even after trying to make eye contact, we were still ignored. Eventually, another waiter came over, and we were able to place our order. The food was average at best, not hot and lacking in chicken. We had pre-booked the set menu for £45 per person, which was supposed to include a dessert, but only one option was available in the end. The Christmas pudding we received was rock hard, and when we asked for plain ice cream instead, we were told we would have to pay extra. Throughout the meal, we had to flag down different waiters just to ask for drinks, as no one seemed to be paying attention to our table. It was clear that other diners were receiving better treatment, possibly because they were regulars. The curries were bland and not even served hot. Despite the busy holiday season, the poor service we received was not due to being understaffed, but rather a lack of priority given to us as newcomers. We were all looking forward to our Indian meal tonight, but we left disappointed and will not be returning. We spent £200 between the three of us for a subpar meal and even worse service. Normally, we would leave a generous tip, especially during Christmas, but after tonight's experience, we did not feel this establishment deserved it.
Friendly place, they have a varied menu which gives you a great choice, didn’t have to wait too long, asked for leftovers to be bagged up but was given someone else’s takeaway meal by mistake which was quite odd, couple of young waiters didn’t seem to know what they were doing, ok experience would visit again
