Today my downstairs neighbour treated me to a belated Christmas gift of brunch at Le Brasserie Central in Westmount. Our reservations were for 10:30 a.m and we arrived ready to eat. Our wait staff presented us with the menus and offered suggestions. We immediately dispatched him for much needed cups of coffee and tea. My hostess chose Chipotle eggs, potatoes, braised ham, two eggs, chipotle tomato sauce, cheese gratin while I opted for creamed goat’s cheese on rye bread with avocado, hard boiled egg and roasted tomato with fries and mayonnaise. Both dishes were reasonably priced. We wasted no time tucking into our respective choices which we thoroughly enjoyed. While my hostess has been there on numerous occasions, this was my first time dining there. It had come highly recommended by another friend who often dines there and has never had a meal she didn’t enjoy. I will certainly dine there again.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant a few times and the food is truly outstanding. The prices are definitely not cheap but still very reasonable considering the quality of the food. The oysters are the best in the city. My only complaint and it's not minor is they do not always have oysters in stock. As mentioned above the oysters are sensational and to be told they don't have any on a given night is heartbreaking. Unfortunately this has happened more than once and I for the life of me cannot understand why this continues to happen. If it wasn't for this issue I would give this a 5 star and I'm sure many others would as well. Somehow they need to figure out how to order properly to not run out and if they happen to be stuck with some leftover then that's the cost of doing business. I'm guessing they have lost customers due to this and I am really hoping this problem gets fixed once and for all. Aside from this it's perfect restaurant.
We felt welcomed by the hostess and very well attended by the waitress. We both opted for the beet gaspacho that was on the table d'hôte which was exquisite.! I chose the festured fish, merluche, which was unknown to me. It was perfectly cooked and served on a tasty and beautiful mound of wild rice and zucchini noodles with safran oil. My friend had the macreuse with gnocchis which melted in your mouth. The mushroom sauce accompanying the dish was especially flavorful. This is now our new place for a business lunch. Nothing comes close to it in this Westmount neighbourhood . Chiara
Went on a quiet monday evening. The service is good, and the menu interesting. I took the steak frites which was a big disappointment, I am fairly sure that the steak had been defrosted from frozen. Had an odd colour and texture. It has a decent wine list, but hefty markups. All in all, i would not rush back.
