I came here a couple of times and really enjoyed their all-day breakfast. Both of these cafes have really thoughtful decorations or tableware that would make you smile. Marulilu cafe is located right on Broadway, near Cambie Street, Vancouver.
This is a small Japanese cafe located on Broadway, right across from the skytrain station. They have a very large menu of various Japanese fare as well as Western food. You order at the front counter and they bring the food to your table. I had their Breakfast Plate C. The food didn't blow me away, but was very good, and very reasonably priced. Even though there wasn't really much service per se, the staff was also very friendly. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Just be warned: seating is limited, so you might need to wait if you go at peak hours.<br/ <br/ Breakfast Plate C w/Waffle $11.99):<br/ 3.5/5<br/ This comes with 2 small waffles, 2 eggs, 2 hashbrowns, and your choice of either bacon, ham or sausage; I had the sausage. The waffles were served with syrup and whipped cream. I did find them to be a little too dry and dense for my liking. The eggs and sausage were standard. I really enjoyed the hashbrowns though, which were very crispy.<br/ <br/ Summary:<br/ Food: 3.5/5<br/ Price: 4.5/5<br/ Service: N/A<br/ Overall: 4/5<br/ Recommendations: Breakfast Plates
This little bistro is situated by the Cambie station and offering home style Japanese dishes. <br/ <br/ We ordered their authentic Oyako Don and Garlic Omi Rice with squid and nato on the side. The Don was well seasoned and Omi Rice was wrapped with thin layer of egg served with garlic/ tomato sauce and salad. The squid was nicely coated. Nato has always been our favourite.<br/ <br/ The seating is limited so be prepared to wait.
Starting your day with breakfast at this place will definitely add some excitement to your day! There are a variety of options to choose from, so take the time to enjoy your meal and discover your inner strength. I will definitely be returning.
We came here for lunch that it was around 2pm, so we didn't have to wait for a table. We could just grab one and sat wherever we wanted. Usually there must be waiting during lunch hours. <br/ <br/ All servers were friendly and nice. They gave us a menu right after we sat down. We had to order the food at the cashier instead of the server to take the orders at our table. <br/ <br/ We ordered omu hayashi rice and Japanese style breakfast. Everything tasted good and was above average. The chef cooked quickly and our dishes came to our table quickly as well. The restaurant is very small having limited tables and chairs. <br/ <br/ They also had a good drink menu. They have a couple drinks every month. I tried their royal milk tea latte after lunch. The royal milk tea latte was alright. <br/ <br/ The only thing I didn't like was the tables and chairs that were really close by each other. I visited the washroom as well. It was quite messy (haha). I wish their bathroom was a little more clean and organized. <br/ <br/ This Japanese restaurant is quite unique that you cannot find any other ones like this on West Broadway or in this neighbourhood. It is worth a visit and try their food.
