Przekaż informację zwrotnąWe hired Shining Stars when it was under the management of its founder Deb. Half way through the planning, the business was bought by KC Hopps and then the pandemic hit. Communicating with them was very difficult. While all our other vendors were very communicative during this difficult time, KC Hopps made it clear we just weren 't a priority. We ended up having to postpone the wedding reception for 10 months due to COVID. After repeated frustrations throughout the extended planning, we wrote KC Hopps a long letter, detailing all of the issues we had encountered with them. We ended the relationship and lost our $1,000 deposit. We suggested they refund us, but they said no (and, admittedly, it was listed as un-refundable deposit in contract). They did not express remorse for lack of communication. While KC Hopps manages several successful restaurants in town, I just don 't think weddings are their thing. Save yourself the stress, and use a caterer who understands how important a wedding is in a person 's life.
Shining Stars catered our wedding in August 2020. We signed a contract about a year before the wedding with the founder, Deb. However, we were informed that Deb no longer worked for the company in January 2020. Shining Stars is now under the ownership of KC Hopps. The positives of our experience with Shining Stars were that the staff were kind, respectful, and flexible in regards to last-minute changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we faced some challenges in working with the company, for example: Frequent changes in staff that were unannounced/unacknowledged, made communication with the company difficult. On top of this, it was somewhat challenging to contact the staff in general (e.g., required several emails and calls to get in touch with them each time). We were disappointed with the catering itself. We felt that the quality of the food served at the wedding was poorer than what we were served at our tasting. Because our guest count decreased at the last minute due to COVID, we paid for approximately 10 more servings of food and 45 more servings of cake than we needed. We therefore expected to have plenty of leftovers. However, at the end of the night, the staff told us there were none. We followed up with Shining Stars about this after the wedding and found out that there were indeed leftovers, but they had been donated without our consent. We discussed these issues with the company after the wedding. They were apologetic and said we would be given a partial refund and gift cards to KC Hopps restaurants in remediation. We only received the refund. Based on our overall experience, we give Shining Stars Catering 3 out of 5 stars.
Shining Stars recently catered my event they were professional, kind, punctual and their food is PHENOMENAL. Everyone was commenting on how delicious everything was and it was all thanks to Shining Stars! <3
