Poke Papa - Washington DC

I frequently pass by this restaurant on my way to work, and it took me a while to finally stop in for lunch. I really wish I hadn't waited so long! The food is incredibly fresh and absolutely delightful, all at very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly, and the ambiance is pleasant—it's a nice place to sit down, and the music is at just the right volume for easy conversation. I usually go around 2 PM for lunch, and by that time, it’s nice and quiet. This restaurant has definitely made it into my top three lunch spots in this part of town! I even took some pictures to show just how fresh everything is.

This is a fantastic spot for lunch, especially if you're a fan of poke. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the sauce is incredibly rich and flavorful, and they tend to add a lot of it. It's a bit too much for my taste, so I think I'll ask for less or no dressing next time. I also didn't care for the imitation crab mayo on the side.

I ordered white rice as my base, and it was neither burnt nor overcooked, which is often a problem I encounter at other places where the rice has been sitting in a warmer all day. Interestingly, the mango topping stood out for being perfectly ripe, and all the toppings were generously portioned. From sweet to spicy proteins, there's an excellent selection available. I also requested several sauces on the side to mix in and try with different bites, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The wasabi aioli was particularly good—it offered a spicy kick while remaining creamy and mild enough to enhance each bite. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the cleanliness of the dining area and the unisex restroom. One thing I did notice was that they only offer bottled drinks, but the Stubborn Soda Leno Berry Açaí was fantastic. Overall, the prices are comparable to those of a food truck, which is surprising for DC, but this place is definitely much tastier. Thank you, Poké Papa and Yelp, for a delightful experience!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Not only is the food absolutely amazing, the staff is friendly, accommodating and helpful. This is right next to my office so it's become a weekly lunch spot. Highly recommend!

First time here. Phenomenal mix of ingredients and taste. Good amount of protein and fish is fresh and tender. Good service and great value for the money. Too bad I only get to pass by so often, would totally make it my daily lunch place. Thank you!
