The food was delicious. I’m a very picky eater so this is truly a compliment to the meal.
This spot has saved me, many a night, from the emptiness of hunger!! THAT’S REAL!! There were days that I could stroll into @horaceanddickies (with less than $10) and get me a fish SANDWICH, that would last me at least 2 days!! Don’t let me get a fish plate...EVERYBODY is eating...I hope you like hot sauce on your fish!! Seriously...this spot has saved my life!! Back then, there was only one establishment, and it was off of H street Northeast D.C. The smell of that fish frying was delightfully aromatic, it drew you in. So when that spot closed a couple years ago, it was difficult for me, and other long time patrons, to adjust to their new locations, as happy as we were that they expanded. Well...that avoidance ended for me recently, and I’m glad it did!! I went to their spot located at 6912 4th St., N.W. Washington D.C.. Let me tell you...they must’ve took that fryer, and grease they had at their H street location, via that fishes flavor not missing a beat from back in the day!! So they have fried shrimp, crab cakes, whole chicken wings, oysters, salmon, mac n cheese, candied yams, collard greens m, fries, hush puppies...the whole 9 yards!! They’ve probably had these items on their menu for years, but all I paid attention to was their fish. By the way, when served, their fish, which comes out fresh and piping hot, melts in your mouth!! You don’t have to add any seasoning like Old Bay or lemon pepper...it’s that good on its own!! I’m definitely going back for their other menu items, I want to try it all!! Upon my return I had to get what I normally copped, and I’m super glad I did get that fish plate, or as they call it Ala Carte (pictured 6 pieces of fried whiting and 4 pieces of white or wheat bread$16.50). The spot in Takoma only does carry out orders thus far, but they have “seat yourself” seating outside. Their customer service was excellent, and prompt. The literal storefront was clean and fairly spacious. Parking can get rough, due to other storefronts, and it’s definitely metered. Overall, I’m ecstatic that I re-discovered their new, old spot again. It’s good to be home!! That’s it. #bigschlimsreviews #goodeats #nostalgic

Currently take out only with limited hours but has some of the best fried shrimp I've ever had- fast service at a reasonable price point for the quality of the food
