Although we had no booking the staff juggled the tables to accommodate us, which in other restaurants they rarely want to do. The staff were very welcoming, the service great and the food delicious. The Indian Tavern Tandoori Restaurant is without doubt a fantastic dining experience.
Recommended by owner of local vineyard and did not disappoint!! Best curry we’ve had in Australia (we’re from UK so know a good curry! in the six years we’ve lived here. Awesome onion Bajis!
We had a great meal here during the journey through Wagga. The service was good, the food was really delicious and the prices were reasonable.
We were passing through Wagga and I fancied a curry. I chose a take away rogan josh, accompanied by vegetable pulao and naan. All were delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. The complimentary pappadums were some of the best I've ever tasted crisp, not oily, and with a lovely spicy flavour.
Let me start by saying that there are not too many Indian food restaurants in the Riverina area of New South Wales. I have eaten here six years ago and the standard of food was very similar today This Indian in Wagga Wagga is very good. Nice setting, good architecture attentive staff and an extensive menu. It is a licensed premises but also a BYO restaurant which is, I think, a big plus when more and more places are opening up and not allowing this very Australian custom. The food I had was very good. Vegetable Samosa to start and then a very good Lamb Madras. I am a hot curry eater and this one set my mouth alight. The rice serving was on the small side but there was plenty of Naan bread in one serving. All in all a good, well presented and served meal. My only criticism is that the plates were not changed between the entre and main meals. Most Indian Restaurant that I know try (and usually succeed) to present as a silver service. Proper cutlery, wine glasses, cloth not paper table covers etc. Changing plates between courses should occur when trying to present as a dining experience. Overall, recommended.
