Calypso Grill - Virginia Beach

Giving two stars instead of one because the staff interactions were pleasant. Unfortunately they were also infrequent. I understand that they may be short staffed like a lot of places, but letting us know would have been helpful. We just sat there and the wait staff disappeared for LONG periods of time. It wasn't even that busy but after waiting an hour for appetizers we never got, we ended up leaving. We can be patient but communication would have been helpful.

After 25 minutes, I had to go and search for someone to wait on us. It’s been another 35 minutes and we are still waiting for our food. No idea how it’s going to taste but even if it is the best damn chicken sandwich I ever ate (which I highly doubt), this wait is definitely pulling my rating down!

Giving four stars only because I wish the music was the same every time I have attended this bar. The wait staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is pretty good, I just would love the live dj more often. I feel like the crowd is more friendlier when the music is on point. I cant wait to come back during the summer when they fully open the patio to bring in the fresh beach air!

The food was good and we enjoyed being on the ozean. what we didn't enjoy was the live band that played so loud that they gave us a headache and the fact that they weren't just loud - they were terrible. fun if they were ditching the band.

This place was so disorganized. Now I can understand it being busy but everyone was just focused on their current task at hand and nothing else. We basically serviced ourselves. The first hostesses said we needed to see another hostess to be seated. After getting drinks from the bar we walked over to the other stand but no one was at the stand when we got there so we walked around sat down at an open table which was hard to find because most of them said reserved. We watched for about 15 minutes as the same thing happened to many others. After going back asking the process again just be clear, I ended up just going to the bar and ordering food. That bartending was the only attentive person we encountered there all night. A bus boy even came by our table a few times and on the last time took our untouched plates and utensils. This places gets 3 stars because the pulled pork sandwiches we got were amazing, even though we wanted wings, they were out. And the music was good.
