Cafe - Restaurant Hildebrand

We found this place after a nice walk in the black forest. It is located in a small village on the edge of the forest. They had a good terrain outside and there were some good vegetarian options on the menu. We stayed at Holiday Inn, a short drive away. There was a salad buffet that came with the meal Very pleasant indeed, with special thanks to the friendly waiters from Gambia who spoke good English, what made it much easier for us. Recommended.

When you come through the front door, you have the pleasure of passing the smoking room on the way to the restaurant. A great smell right away. Unfortunately, if you sit in the front area where we sat, you have the smell around you throughout the dinner. The lady who took our order couldn't do it fast enough. Once she noticed an order, she said next, without looking. One person in our party wanted a large part of the Pommes for dinner and she was told that would be Pommes, they had no big part. No problem. After all the orders were taken, our waitress went away and came back immediately with the fries. It won't be ordered! The soup arrived almost at the same speed and while we ate the soup we have our head. My wife and I had scavengers with frits and gravy/ sauce. The Schnitzel was a mixture of different meats and the sauce was a package sauce. With our noses full of smoke and a plate of strange meat and sauce, we wanted this dinner to be over as soon as possible. The service is rude, the area where we sat like smoke and the foot was terrible, so this restaurant will not see us again. We were invited to dinner and even then we felt cheated.

We visit a relative in Villingen every few months and invite them to lunch. The last couple of times we went to Hildebrand and will probably return next time. One reason is the pleasant country atmosphere. The terrace is a great place for outdoor lunch. If the weather or season excludes the outdoor food, we don't care that we have to dine indoors because the indoor area is bright and airy with large windows that offer a view of the fields and forests outside. The food is very tasty and a good value. A word of caution: Always order your meal with sauce/journey on the page!!!! Hildebrand, like so many European restaurants, makes the assumption that the diners enjoy all the dishes in the gravitation. Fact is, engraving is just not compliment some dishes, for example French fries, green beans among others. Next, Hildebrand serves some pretty decent meat and usually they just taste better without engraving. My wife sometimes forgets to order the meal with sauce on the side and she always regrets it. The last time she ordered duck and it was excellent, or if it had not been drowned in gravity. My wife ordered table lace. It was crushed into so much white sauce that it had a hard time to taste the table lace. The white sauce was referred to as horseradish (cren), but there was not too much genuine taste of wreaths. The meal would have been much more enjoyable if the table tip had been served properly and a small dish of authentic cranes is available on the side. Hildebrand also has a pretty good salad bar.

Schöne Lage, schnelle und freundliche Bedienung und Begrüssung, die Getränke waren rasch da und die Bestellung war ebenso schnell aufgenommen und verarbeitet. Die Speisen gut bürgerlich, frisch und lecker präsentiert, im Geschmack okay. Die Preise moderat und der Umgebung entsprechend.
