Barnsider - Village of Colonie

Service was on point, food was phenomenal as well. We got the lobster casserole with prime sirloin which was a special. We also got the beef wellington appetizer. Both were great :

Excellent local steak and seafood restaurant that has been in Albany since the 1970s. Good, fresh salad bar. Not a fancy place but good food and good 3-person team service.

My wife and I took a couple out to treat them to a nice steak dinner. I always like to get prime rib when I go to a nice restaurant, and I talked up the Barnsider as our choice for the evening meal. My expectations were shattered as first off all as I ordered prime rib but got just a steak (which I said to myself that I won 't complain, so I accepted it after waiting quite a while). However the steak was waaay undercooked and tough, so I sent it back (and the other couple sent their 's back also. Waited for awhile and got some salad in the meantime. When our steaks came back they looked like they had been put in hot water to 'cook ' them and they were Tough and I mean tough with No flavor. The other could sheepishly agreed that the meal was a flop. Fast forward today July 23, 2024 and I just found out our family wanted to take us out to the Barnsider Thursday for our 45th anniversary and I had to remind everyone about the horrible last time we were there. So everyone agreed it will be a nice restaurant on Central Avenue instead.!

We showed up rather late as a party of nine and were warmly greeted and very quickly seated. Visiting from out of town for a conference, I had learned of the Barnsider from a local gentleman with whom I had struck up a conversation. As we had a few dietary issues in our group, we were very pleased by how concerned and understanding our wait staff turned out to be. I can’t praise this place high enough; all around it far exceeded expectations and I look forward to going back again. Dietary restrictions: The folks listened closely and honored both food allergies and dietary restrictions.
