I'm rating the Sea Breeze Farm market stand at Pike's Place here because I didn't see an entry for their market location. I happened across their stall and saw that they had beautiful meats and products (raw milk even! but didn't have the ability to take some immediately home with me. I really really wanted the raw milk, Seattle you are so lucky to have this as an option!! The vendor, Rose, was extremely helpful and fun to talk with and even had a great recommendation to include some meats from their stand in my fish crate (having ordered some fish from a stand across the way . I just received my glorious feast of food via shipment successfully, and all meat was prepared and provided as requested. It's beautiful grassfed and dry aged 61 days, so I'm very excited to cook this all up! All my interactions with their staff were incredible and I look forward to ordering from them again and hopefully visiting their farm next time! Worth every penny!!
Love what they stand for: humane, pasture raised meats, raw milk, raw milk cheeses. Feels good to know that there are still farms like this. We are regulars at the Ballard market and always stop here to grab raw milk and meat. Expensive, but worth it.
I just had a beautiful 8 course tasting menu at La Boucherie and I was very impressed. I have been to The French Laundry, Manresa, and several other extremely high end restaurants and I think the food was lovely here. To combat the very scrouge-like one star reviews they recently received, I would like to put a few facts out there. First of all, the same people who run the restaurant, also run the farm Sea Breeze Farm seabreezefarm.net on the North End of Vashon Island and you can tell that what they do is very special. This restaurant and tasting menu is a labor of love for these people and I was treated with total kindness and care. I loved the food, and so did my husband! The price for the tasting menus also include tax and tip, for those who mentioned it was expensive. I don 't think it was expensive at all for what was presented. I have paid far more for far less food that tasted half as good. I, personally, think one star reviews are cruel and undeserved for this place. The owners/operators obviously put their heart into the food from the beginning to end and I commend them for it. I wanted to leave an additional tip even though it was already included in the price. Rose was so sweet to me. I was not drinking the wine pairings as I was driving that night and she wanted to make sure I had something to sip on during the meal. She made a few special things for me and did not even charge me for them. She did not need to do that, but she wanted to make sure my meal was just as pleasant as my husband 's was as he was enjoying the wine pairings. That would not have happened in one of the other high end places I mentioned. Also, the building is very old, as is the entire town of Vashon. This adds to its character and I love that it is not some crazy high end interior place. It felt elegant and like the French country-side. We sat on the large outdoor patio and it was extremely pleasant. I wish I lived closer so that I could come more often to taste the various recipes. I 'm sure they are all wonderful.
I really appreciate all the work guys are doing on the farm and in the restaurant. I will try to be fair in the review. We 've been to the restaurant on July 11, 2015. We 've found it via Yelp and were very excited with all the pictures and reviews. There are couple things I 'd wanted to clarify first: First pictures at Yelp don 't represent real environment and interior of the place. It 's actually pretty old and rustic. To be fair it 's pretty cozy though. Second price range at Yelp is incorrect. Having dinner for two for 270 is not , I believe it should be . Third food is not really great for such price. It 's good, seems to be organic, it 's served great, but 135 per person for tasting menu is even higher than in affordable Michelin starred restaurant in NYC. Food taste in La Boucherie is definitely not comparable with such. Fourth service is not good. Rose was describing courses thoroughly, however when we decided to leave, neither she or someone else asked us was everything good or not. We 've been offered with tasting menu containing full menu 135/person or 95/person without drinks and half menu 95/person or 75/person without drinks . We 've selected half menu with no drinks per person. Neither one of first 4 courses was really tasty, they were just good enough. We became feeling a bit puzzled considering we committed to pay 75*2 for whole dinner. So, we asked Rose if we can pay for half menu after fourth course. Rose brought the check without asking us what was wrong. Bottom line Pros: coziness, courses are looking great, cutlery are good, tips/tax included into price, good restroom. Cons: very expensive for such a food, stinky water cups, waiter 's dirty fingers, relatively poor service.
