While I am willing to wait for high-quality food, the experience fell short. The prawn starter, although fresh, was lacking seasoning. Our main dishes, including pasta, were served cold and watery. The special recommended to me, gnocchi, was dense and rubbery. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience.
We sat on the patio and received attentive service. The bruschetta was delicious, but the noodles were not as impressive as I had expected.
The food at this restaurant is great and the overall service is good. However, I had a bad experience with a staff member who verbally attacked a homeless man collecting cans from a nearby garbage can in the community square, which did not belong to the restaurant. This lack of humanity and respect for the less fortunate in a community square led me to decide not to support this establishment anymore. I will also recommend to other regular patrons to stop supporting this restaurant. It's a shame because the food is fantastic and the rest of the staff are great. Unfortunately, this one female staff member ruined the atmosphere with her terrible handling of the situation, which did not disrupt anyone's meal. I hope she is not in a management position. As a resident of the west end for over 20 years, I have never seen an establishment treat an underprivileged individual who was not causing any harm so poorly. Most establishments in the west end show humanity and focus on building a stronger community. Attacking a harmless can collector does not contribute to a stronger community. If people collecting bottles is a concern for the establishment, perhaps they should ask the city to move the garbage can further away from the restaurant. It seems like a simple solution that should have been considered instead of humiliating a poor man and causing a scene. Thank you.
My partner and I love trying hole in the wall authentic Italian restaurants in the city. We decided to try The Italians over the long weekend, and it was great, but we probably won 't go back, at least anytime soon. The atmosphere and location aren 't the best. It 's in a busy area along Davie right next to a walking area. There is a sign that says NO SMOKING yet people still smoke within 5-10 feet from the patio seating area, which can make a dining in experience unpleasant (sorry I don 't wanna smell smoke, I want to smell FOOD). If we didn 't have our dog with us, we definitely would have stayed inside and maybe that would have changed our experience. The customer service was amazing (servers were always making sure we were satisfied and okay) and the pasta was great, however, it was not much different from other authentic Italian restaurants that serve similar dishes at a budget friendly price. I have to add that the wait for our food was a bit too long (almost an hour I believe) which almost ruined our appetite, but at the end of our experience, our belly 's were happy and that 's all that mattered!!Maybe we will go back, but all in all it wasn 't bad, just not as amazing as we hoped.
Very disappointing dining experience. Firstly, we had a booking made for 8pm and had received confirmation of this, but on arrival there was no record of our booking. Luckily (or unluckily! a table was available outside. However, having waited over an hour for our food to be served (main course only , it turned out to be bland and uninteresting. Hunger was our only sauce! When we enquired about dessert (not offered , we were informed that their only dessert, tiramisu, was finished but they could offer us vanilla ice cream! We declined this and finished our drinks while chatting. Just then the staff started clearing up around us, moving tables and chairs inside, to the point that we were left sitting alone in the empty area, while twice being asked if we were okay. Talk about being rushed out and this was only 10.05pm! Overall, a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend. Beware!!!
