Also had veggie tempera but no dipping sauce included....didnt bother to ask as we only had 1hr lunch. Alot has changed since I last visited 2 years ago. I understand it is all you can eat but I definitely think the places in Richmond offer a better assortment of food. Rice and noodles to stuff your tummy.
Kingsway Sushi is a Japanese Restaurant located on Kingsway Vancouver, right on the Boundary Rd intersection. It’s an All You Can Eat Sushi restaurant. It has been opened for more than 10 Years. I had been there a couple of times with my friends before. It has great seafood and sashimi place. My favorite dish in this place is Sashimi. After my boyfriend and I moved back from Calgary, we have been to Kingsway sushi couple times since it’s nearby our place. We usually came to this place around dinner time since it has more options for us to pick from. Environment Since the restaurant is located at the junction of Kingsway and Boundary. It’s very easy for people to find. But, it’s very hard to find the parking spot. Inside the restaurant, it’s very big and there are lots of space. Tables of 2, Tables of 4, Tables of 6, and Tables for families. It’s very busy during dinner time. Should make a reservation before you go to this place around dinner time on the weekend. Service After we sat down, the servers brought the menus and drinks to us. The servers in this restaurant are mostly from China. They are nice and friendly. Usually fast serving the food. This place has more than 5 menus at different prices. You can pick any of them to start your all you can eat orders. Price All 5 menus are at different prices. The cheapest one is around $21 and the most expensive one is around $45. We always ordered the $28 menu include seafood and sashimi. Food Sashimi includes Tuna, Salmon, Tai, Shrimp, and Hokkigai We always ordered more than 20 per each kind to eat. All the sashimi are fresh. Dipping them into the soy sauce. The taste was great. Spicy Salmon Sashimi The spicy sauce is different from any other place. Very salty and spicy. I prefer other places more. Beef Tataki The beef Tataki is awesome. Thinly sliced beef and served with a citrus and ginger infused vinegar soy sauce. It’s so tasty. It’s one of my bf’s favorite. There are two types of motoyaki’s, such as Oyster and Seafood. Oyster Motoyaki is my favorite. Very delicious. Dumplings The pork homemade dumplings tasted great. Very juicy. lots of meat. Kimchi Kimchi is referred to as a traditional Korean dish which is made with ginger, garlic, vegetables, fish, salt and chili peppers. Here the Kimchi taste was very authentic. I love it. Regular Sushi Rolls Very normal sushi rolls. Nothing excited. BBQ Steaks Meat was great, but it’s tasteless. The Deep Fried Calamari (Ika Karaage) was Quite tasteless really. with the sweet chili sauce. It was great.
Our waiter was unapologetic about how bad the food was and was demanding money as soon as we mentioned the food was terrible. We requested money off the bill as the food seemed like it had been found in a garbage bin and heated up under a group of stray dogs and our waiter was getting increasingly ruder and angrier, so he called the police on us. Waiting for the police to arrive the staff gave us dirty looks as they walked past which made us extreme uneasy. Hands down the worst food and service I could have ever imagined. Avoid at all costs if you’re looking for even a sub par meal, if you’re a sucker for punishment this is the place for you.
Firstly if this is your first time and you are driving then you will have trouble finding parking. You have do head down north on Boundary and the first set of lights after the Kingsway intersection take a left and the in the first by lane a left again and the underground parking in at the end of the street. For a quick afternoon bite make sure you come early as this place gets busy quick. The service was fast efficient and polite. The food was mediocre. The portions are simply 1 or 2 pieces so be aware when you order. I am sure most people either too little to start off and then have to continue to re-order but I guess that was wastage is to the minimum. The fun part was the 2 different menus they have with different pricing for a couple of extra items. Conveniently they put the more expensive one up top and even hand that out to you. The other the leave on the table. Curiosity will make you pick the other to see what it is and that is when you realize you have a choice for price. Overall not a bad place.
Due to the Covid 19 it is very difficult and hard mental to keep a restaurant open, Sad to say Kingsway Sushi and Richmond Sushi Permanent closed for Good the good old day they have less 3 location plus four restaurants under their group.
