The waitress interrupted conversation at least 5 times. I am a grown boy. If I want something, I ask. Will not be back, even the location is great, there was some decent jazz trio with good singer and pleasant wind cooling the warm afternoon temperatures. The glass of wine seems overpriced at $9.00.
The food is good (cafe style), and the ambiance is wonderful. It is a real oasis in a busy downtown. We visited about 3 times in a two-week period and every time the food was delicious. The bread pudding with chunks of ginger was yummy. You do not have to pay art gallery admission to enter the cafe.
I recently met friends for drinks and dinner on the patio. The patio is truly lovely, a wonderful oasis. Given it was a nice summer day, I expected it to be crowded and was a little concerned we may not be able to get a table. As a result, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the patio wasn’t busy at all, and there were many tables available.I was also pleasantly surprised to find that there is some table service, and we were able to order wine without going inside. Our server was attentive, friendly, and prompt. There is also a limited selection of appetizers that can be ordered from the patio (cheese plates, etc.)As we wanted something more substantial, we ordered from the cafeteria inside which had a selection of salads, quiches, sandwiches, and lasagna. I ordered the lasagna which came with a side salad: both were reasonably good.I will definitely return to the Gallery Café on another summer day to enjoy that fabulous patio.
I had not been here for a few years and returned this weekend for lunch. I forgot how fantastic the patio is in summer. The restaurant is on the second floor from the stairs on the south side of the art gallery on the Robson Square side. The patio is large with shade and sun and fantastic landscaping. The food is self service inside with great salads, paninis, and small entrees. Great location, good food, and a small but excellent wine selection with modest markups.
There is a very nice place to take a drink, listen music and relax Ideal to be there at afternoon Also you can eat something light or dessert
