Went to the lunch buffet yesterday. Worst food ever. Was cold and greasy. Decor is great with a nice view of Vancouver. Today both my husband and I are sick with upset stomachs and my husband of whom ate much more than myself is throwing up. I know full well it is the very poor quality of the food and how it is kept in the trays. Don't got there and you will stay healthy
WORST BUFFET EVER!!!! I love Asian buffets, and have enjoyed hundreds. The Bite @ the Quay is by far the worst buffet I have ever ate. Poor quality of food, poor selection. Further, it advertised Dim Sum and snow crab, which they had neither. The Bite @ the Quay represents an EXTREME low for my Vancouver vacation that until now has enjoyed high marks for the food. My recommendation: eat anyway else but the Bite @ the Quay. If I could give negative stars I would do so. I hated this place so much I posted this review here, and Yelp.
We ate at Bite @ the Quay for lunch buffet. Located on the top floor of Lonsdale Quay, it's a beautiful, classy restaurant with plush purple chairs, white linen, chandeliers, glossy wood floors, and amazing views. Bottles of wine line one wall and the ambience and atmosphere are of a fine dining restaurant. Not your typical Chinese restaurant décor. There are 6 buffet stations, including a Japanese section. I was immediately impressed by the classiness of the restaurant. There's a good variety of food to choose from, mostly Chinese. Tea is included. Because of its location away from the main traffic area, it would be easy to overlook this place for a quick lunch. With a better dessert selection and more exposure to the shoppers below, this restaurant could easily become a regular hangout for those who want class and ambience for the price of a takeout meal at the food court.
Bite @ the Quay is a true hidden gem, assuming of course if you like Asian food. The spread is 90% Chinese cuisine, with a 10% Japanese sushi thrown in for good measures. The Chinese section itself has more than a dozen varieties, and most of them are very fresh. The broccoli and beef are amazing, as are the fried squids. Eaten fresh, the fried squids has an irresistible well-seasoned taste + coupled with a delightful crunch = fireworks in your mouth. The sushi section itself seems a little out of place, although I can't complain since it's pretty good. My favourites were the spicy salmon sushi and California rolls. All in all, $14.99 per person. Bring mom and dad, since seniors get a 10% discount. Honestly you can't beat this bang-per-buck place. Comfort food + unbeatable seaside views = I'll definitely be back. Just remember to do a lot of walking after the meal to burn of all the excess calories, your tummy will thank you for that! PS: Don't forget to order a pot of tea, it comes complimentary with the buffet.
