I would suggest calling forward and getting a place. we had no reservation, but they pressed us into a packed house. the restaurant is very well maintained and furnished to the nineties. the parking lot is usually kies and can hold large rvs, semi trucks and busses. I think the building is a reused fence. the restaurant has a very nice lobby, a bar, a private banquet room and two large dinner rooms. it has a very southern vibe with worn doors, windows and a rusted zinndecke. the walls are decorated with authentic vintage signs from the early 1900s. they have three tvs playing sport. the restaurant is very modern with orders about ipad and printed reception cards for the kitchen. my family ordered the rehearsal (seen quarters, drawn black, cut bark) beside salad and ranch, and coleslaw. hoot’s cheeseburger (Hooted-up-Ei of choice above) with chips. chicken sandwich with sweet potato frits and catfish dinner, koleslaw, sweet potato fries and two hush puppies. the sweet tee was very sweet and tasted excellent and not bitter. the grill was fantastic! it was fresh and really shiny. the brisket had the smoke ring, very moist and very well seasoned. I could say it was fresh and not soaked in cattle. the chicken quarter was super damp. the skin was soft, well made, and amazing. the chopped chicken sandwich was white meat and had a wonderful smoke taste and it was also very humid. the catfish was cooked whole filets to not protect hard edges and not under done in the middle. the hush puppies were amazing with some heat. the sweet potato friries were salted and very good. the burgers come as they want (rare, medium rare, medium or well made) we ordered it well and it was still juicy and the ice put it over the top. the koleslaw was nicely sweet with very little edgy. it was great, just not amazing. it was hand-ground. I would order again. we made cake. we took German chocolate and carrot cake and both were completely homemade and cost only $4 per disc. also four more cakes strawberry, chocolate and classic white cake. they also had bananenpudding and also chocolate moose. overall if this restaurant in my city my family would go three days in the week. I post a video of one of their associates singing happy birthday. probably the best birthday song in a restaurant ever!
It is always hard to find a decent lunch when we drag our 45 ft camper. they have a very large amount that is easy to reach and out and was a nice break for our 7-hour drive. 20 minutes wait when they order a burger, but my son said it was worth it. we had brisket baked kartoffels. fried mushrooms, tweeper rings and french fries were delicious.
We had to drive an extra hour to get there, but it was worth it! they were crowded, but we sat pretty fast and ordered and also received our food quite quickly. a little high prices, but also other restaurants. it was great. family-oriented, but have a full cash if they are interested. we will go back!
I wasn't in a real southern BBQ place since I lived in north carolina about a year ago. as soon as I left, the smell and the people and the accented and the atmosphere was so strong. I almost cried. I have a rehearsal dish, that was so good to eat, and the waiters and server were so nice.
Great BBQ! They also have excellent steaks for the price. They have one of the best brisket sandwiches you'll ever set your choppers in...
