Since it’s a tourist destination the most prominently located restaurants receive the most visits and reviews, many of them if in English by Northern Europeans who are not that knowledgeable about Italian cuisine. Locals don’t bother writing reviews ! Ambrosia is objectively in the top 3 5 restaurants in central Tropea, and is one of my two personal favourites. The outside area is a spacious “island” in the square, which in clement weather is the best place to sit. Ambrosia is run by a charming and hardworking husband and wife team. House specialties include paccheri with pesto and fish/seafood, variations on sword fish, and delicious tuna with Tropea onion. Can’t recommend this too highly.
With all the other places in Tropea to choose from, I wouldn't return here. It's a lovely setting but it's more expensive and for no good reason.
We visited on recommendation from our accommodation provider and we didn’t regret it. We enjoyed our pasta dish and prawns with side salads and a traditional red onion dish. Tucked away from the crowds a lovely find. Service was great and friendly.
Ambrosìa il cibo degli Dei in Tropea is a divine culinary experience. The antipasti are exceptional, showcasing a delightful mix of flavors and textures. The only dessert they offer is truly heavenly. The attentive staff adds an extra touch of sophistication to the dining experience. Ambrosìa is a must-visit gem in Tropea.
Excellent service and the food was amazing… beautiful surroundings and highly recommend if you visit Tropea!
