Best cheesesteaks in Baltimore hands down In comparison to Philly cheese steaks. I don't like the fact that I can't preorder the food and have to go into the establishment to order it then wait. It's always crowded with a group of college kids. Which can be loud and annoying. Also it's cash only! Another annoying thing but soooooo worth it once you get the food. The subs are large and meaty and flavorful! The fries are decent too. I add gravy and cheese to them. The parking the decor and service are mediocre but i don't care cause the food tops it all.
It was the best cheese steak I've ever had. Customer service and atmosphere are nonexistent but I think it adds to the charm of this hole-in-the-wall place.Food: 5/5
Ok, so listen I've had The Real Thing on my checklist for years I don't know if I told y'all, but I'm a Pisces, and as a Pisces, I'll be the first to admit that nothing in the real world lives up to the fantasies in our mind, so while I often find myself enjoying the places I've checklist, nothing ever truly fully lives up to the hype. ... Until now. Until today. Until I had The Real Thing.Let's get the bad out of the way, and that's solely if you feel like being petty, but the facility is old, it's small, and unless you're fond of carry out style neighborhood joints, this place isn't a looker. But what it lacks in aesthetics, it makes up in every single other category. First of all, Tony, the owner is amazing, man. I usually don't get charmed so easily, but there's something about meeting a genuine person, doing what they love. Tony was super nice, he talked to us about his restaurant, his love for the Towson area, and about being a staple in the community. He also offered my 1 year old son free chips, and bc my Wife and I were first time customers, he offered to waive the cost of some of our alterations to their favorites, like extra cheese, etc. Very nice gestures. But it wasn't even that, it was the part where we got to sit back see other patrons come in to get their cheesesteaks witness the connection that Tony has with his regulars. This man really has it in spades when it comes to customer service. He literally connects with everyone that enters his facility and treats them like they're special. I appreciated my interaction with Tony how kind he was to my family and I. Let's talk about the good: The cheesesteak is quite possibly the best that I've EVER had. There is hesitancy there tho, bc I've not been to Philly in ages, but I've had Pats, Genos, Tony Lukes, Jim's on South Street Max's and I can't say for sure that any of them compare to The Real Thing with maybe Jim's being the exception. That's saying something. My cheesesteak was perfect. Loaded with fresh ribeye, that Tony shared, they freshly chop every day, and that nothing is frozen. Everything is fresh with no preservatives. The ratio of delicious steak and cheese whiz was perfect. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, and melted in your mouth literally. I promise I'm not lying. My Wife loved her Chicken Cheesesteak as well, and when I asked her to rate it on a 10 point scale, she told me it was a 10 I trust her. There are a lot of places in the DC, and Maryland area that pokes out their chest and boast about their cheesesteaks they're right, they are good. In some cases, very good. But The Real Thing is the best.I said what I said.
Just a great cheese steak and fun back and forth with the owner. The inside atmosphere is early sub shop, but it all fits. Can still taste that perfect sub.Food: 5/5
