Przekaż informację zwrotnąVisited Hanburys on Sat Feb at it was practically empty and we were asked if we had booked (for goodness sake its a fish and chip cafe not a restaurant). The person we felt was not very polite as we were only offered a choice of two seater tables both of which were not in a very pleasant position and very small (plenty of seat tables available). When the meal arrived it looked good but when we cut into the fish it was mainly batter and not a lot of fish. The bill for small fish/chips (specials) and undrinkable coffee was nearly I had been looking forward to this for a long time as we visited a few years back and it was good(not local). Won't be going back. Over priced and over rated
Who criticised Hanbury's. Because they've been successful, they've let their standards slip. They think customers will just keep coming back now even though the service is getting worse. The portion sizes have shrunk, they don't give as many chips as they used to, the portion sizes of both fish and chips also differ greatly from one day to the next and depending on who is serving. Unfortunately on three occasions the fish has not been fresh and has tasted badly of ammonia. I also don't believe that they still filter the oil regularly as my fish often tastes of the other meat they cook in the oil, as if the meat juice has been building up in the oil for days. One day the taste was so awful it was inedible. I complained and they said they'd give me the same order again for free, but it had been a large size I paid for and they only gave me a small one for free. This says to me that they don't really care about customer satisfaction. I don't plan to go back any more.
Mr Hanbury may have many award in his name but unfortunately consistency is not one of them. I am sure Mr Hanbury will make reply to this but I have tried to speak to him and he has refused to call me back, I realised that it was a busy time when I rang him today at March but I did ask that he ring me after he has finished cooking, I was told he was unwilling to do so. I have had problems with both the size of portions and the amount of cooking the chips get at this establishment and I have told Mr Hanbury personnaly that I like my chips well cooked, that is soft and fluffy inside and crisp on the outside. After complaining once about the quality of the cooking I expected as a regular customer that due consideration be given to my request which it has not. As far as the size of a portion of chips is concerned a large portion is supposed to weigh oz grams). Yesterday I ordered one large and one medium portion of chips, the large portion weighed oz grams) and the medium weighed oz grams) and also the chips were undercooked to my taste. When I called the shop I pointed out the fact that the difference between the two portions was oz grams) but the price difference was I was told that next week they would be sure to put less in the medium portion as they had obviously put too much in this week. This is a totally unacceptable and sarcastic way to talk to a customer even if he is considered to be a nuisance (another term I heard while on the phone tonight) this is no way to run an award winning business is Mr Hanbury? I was also told that Hanburys would rather I didn't purchase fish and chips from their establishment, I asked whether that meant I was banned but was told that I would be given special treatment ie chips measured out on scales in front of me and cooked to my taste, in other words single me out in front of customers as some sort of pariah. Mr Hanbury, you can reply by saying that I am an awkward customer, I complain too much, I am never satisfied but unless you can deal with customers like me I consider you have failed as a shopkeeper.
When our meal arrived, it looked appetizing, but the fish was mostly broken and lacking in actual fish meat. The bill for two small fish and chips dishes, along with one coffee, came to nearly £27. I had been eager to revisit this place after a few years, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The prices were too high for the quality of food we received. I will not be returning to Hanburys in the future.
The reviewer criticized Hanbury's restaurant for letting their standards slip despite their initial success. They believe that customers are only returning out of habit, as the service and quality of food have been deteriorating. Portion sizes have become smaller, with fewer chips being served. The consistency of the fish and chips varies greatly depending on the day and who is serving. Unfortunately, the fish at three of their locations is not fresh and has a strong ammonia taste. The reviewer also suspects that the oil is not being filtered regularly, as their fish often tastes like other meats cooked in the same oil. One day, the taste was so bad that they complained and were promised a free replacement, but only received a small portion instead of the full order they had paid for. This experience has led them to believe that the restaurant does not prioritize customer satisfaction, and they do not plan on returning.
