We needed a place to get a quick dinner before a show in the opposite, so we wandered to mambo. around 1930 clock we were the only people at the place and I was a little worried. I was pleasantly surprised! I never had Cuban food and found Jamaican too spicy, so again, held my breath. with something safe, a Cuban sandwich Cuban broth, ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, sniff in a pressed sandwich. I'm not a Swiss fan, so I skipped her, but you were a good sandwich. we also had Yucca-Fries who were amazing and my husband did not know that they were even something different than kartoffel. general mixed drinks, but a limited selection. I will return!
Mambo lounge in danforth avenue and broadview is excellent. we ordered tostones con carne, the medium-ripe fried plantains with shredded meat for starter with estrella beer. as a delicious plate of ropa vieja or shredded meat, with congri, a Cuban rice with black...beans and tiny fried yuca, plus salat and an authentic Cuban sandwich. dessert was cream brulle and a charming talk with chef andres and his wife. They have a Cuban party on the last Saturday every month with live music and dancing with eating for only $30. I recommend this place.
Great drinks. Efficient fast service. Quiet cute place. Ordered the carnival tapas (a mixture of different choices. and shared it with my wife — everything was perfect. Thank you.
I visit Cuba 3 times annually and love their food. Not the resort food, but the food that my Cuban friends' parents and grandparents make when I visit. Mambo was a great discovery as they had Cuban cuisine that actually tasted like what my Cuban...friends make! I shared a few tapas with a friend and we both left full and more than content. I will definitely return to Mambo.
