Frascati Restaurant - Toronto

The restaurant is very small and is opposite the hotel chelsea. hostess is a half-sudden lady who scares a little. the food is medium, no refinement. the bruschetta was very good but the main dishes left to wish.

We ducked in from the rain and were very pleased. Nice bright interior in an Italian theme. Had the Angel pasta up with lobster and really enjoyed it Brownie cheesecake went down very well. Not rushed and good service. Would certainly go again the next time I'm in Toronto.

I have been to this very fine establishment on three occasions while attending conferences in the big awful city from lovely quiet Halifax. Beautiful food on each occasion and as well the most entertaining and bright server that I can imagine. It is worth the price of admission just to interact with her. Fabulous customer service even when I was greatly beneath her being from the hinterland but have been to Venice many times and they have a number of not so good reproductions of Venetian buildings. I should print and frame some of my own pictures to improve the quality!

This was a quiet restaurant with an attentive wait staff. There was good variety on the menu and several specials. The tomato salad was excellent as well as the warm bread and real butter. There was a nice wine selection and the prices were reasonable.

Was hoping for more authentic and home made Italian - bread was French loaf and not really fresh. Pasta accompanying the mains was not fresh; appearance and taste similar to boxed version (had veal piccata and veal masala accompanied by pasta.) Both mains missed the mark; masala was bland; picata overpowered by lemon. Apps were quite good (minestrone soup and mussels which made.) Our friend had ravioli that also tasted pre-made. Tiramisu was too soggy and lacked flavour. Service was quite good since it was only steady when we dined. but would be an issue if the dining room is more busy; the hostess is also the wait staff and only 1 other staff (bus boy.) For the money it's worth it to spend a bit more and have more of an authentic Italian meal; won't be back.
