Chef & proprietor Francesco works tirelessly every night to serve up endless culinary delights, taking cues from the clients while recommending daily specials. from antipasto, to salads, to pastas and lasangnas to meats. It is an all night feast of delicious italian home cooking. Come hungry and prepare to stay a while :)
Francesco is a great host & cooks the most delicious food. We enjoyed zeppole (fried Pizza), lovely Cuiatello ham on a charcuterie board. The cherry tomatoes with soft mozzarella and herbed olive oil was so delicately flavoured and tasted like summer in Italy. We loved his bruschetta with homemade pesto and ricotta. The rigatoni with Puttanesca sauce was fresh & zesty. We had a lovely chilled rose wine and lots of sparkling water for the hot day. We ended with little amaretti cookies. This restaurant feels like a holiday in Italy.
Part of me doesn't want to write this review because the secret will be out. We live in the neighbourhood and this has become one of our regular places to drop by for dinner. Francesco and Patrycja are the dynamic duo that make you feel like you are eating an intimate dinner with some good friends who live in a gorgeous lofty space and so happen to cook some of the best Italian food you will ever encounter. Francesco usually mixes it up and asks us "what do you feel like eating?" It's like omakaze dining, butItalian style! Let him take you on the trip - we've never regretted it. If you are more of the stick- to-the-menu type, try the zucchini lasagna, it's sublime. Our family is having a small celebration this summer and we are excited to bring them to this new neighbourhood favourite.
Okay so this restaurant is located in a middle of no where and you would be shocked once you find it because is tucked in a little corner! However once you are inside you are immediately greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff! the location is super cozy and tiny and you can actually see the kitchen from where you sit! its a family run restaurant so you actually see the owner and his NONA! cooking which is just incredible! The food selection are fantastic and my recommendation is you should try everything! They do not have their alcohol licence yet but apparently they are working on it. The price is set on the higher range and you will find urself giving the receipt a double look but the food quality is so fine that you just don't care and pay the bill without hesitation ...Only complaint and I hope management reads this!I know you guys are trying to be all HIP and not a pretentious establishment but the little metal stools you are using for people to sit on are SOOO uncomfortable! They were by far the most uncomfortable chairs I ever had to sit on, they are super hard, cold and oddly shaped! we constantly found ourselves standing up to give our REAR a break from the pain which is a shame because it takes away from the enjoyment of NONAS cooking! I hope you take this seriously and consider putting stools with a little bit of a cushion on them!
I'd heard great things, and yet Bugigattolo surpassed my expectations. It's a small place, and not at all fussy. There's no menu. The chef, Francesco, comes out and asks you about your food preferences, and then he starts cooking based on what's fresh. The food was unbelievable: the best bruschetta of my life, charcuterie, salad, squash soup, pasta, and a light dessert. It's an open kitchen, so it's easy to communicate back and forth about your experience. It's cozy, unrushed, and the food was phenomenal. We'll be going back for sure. I can't recommend it highly enough.
