This place is cash/debit only. You can only use debit if you spend more than $25. There's also a minimum $5 charge per person. Service is not at all what you expect from a cafe in Toronto. The ambiance is nice though and they have live music Saturday nights apparently which was the only good thing about this place when we were there.

My husband and I went there on Saturday with live band music. The band is fantastic, strongly recommend any one to go on Saturday evening. Reasonable price and good quality of food.

I have always ordered their strawberry meringue cake for special occasions and they have never let us down with this. We decided to go in for cake and coffee. We ordered 4 pastries, Vienna coffee, with one green tea latte. Service was good and pastries were decent. We the peach pastry which was quite delicious, starwberry short cake was on point, however the green tea cheese cake was lacking in flavour. Also, coffee tasted like coffee flavoured water. Gratuity is automatically charged and they don't accept cash unless over 25$

Love all the sweet pastries and cakes at Maxim's! Most notable favorite would be the meringue! I love the strawberry meringue! It's light flakey and delectable! Best I've had in Tdot!
