Shed - Tofino

While my French fries were tasty crispy, my Tempura Tuna sandwich $18.25 CAD) was suspiciously not tuna, but chicken. My lunch mates agreed with me. Tuna is flaky layered, whereas what I appeared to have received breaded chicken) was dense, bright white, and tasted definitely like chicken! The menu describes the Tempura Tuna burger as albacore, pickled jalapeno, mayo Szechuan sauce . I asked my server, but she claims it was tuna. Oh well ... Also, the sauce over it made it a soggy mess. I would definitely choose something else on the menu. There 's a good selection of beers, wine cocktails. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed vibe with seating both inside and outside. Nothing memorable, though your results may be better than mine.

The burgers and drinks here are great. While dogs aren't permitted on the patio, you can tie them up outside. The atmosphere is fun, and the staff is very friendly.

Sadly, the food fell short of expectations. The fries were the soggiest I've ever encountered, and we ordered four different burgers, all of which were severely undercooked. We did eat them fresh from the takeout window, so there’s no excuse there. The burgers themselves were disappointing too—a patty no larger than 3.5 to 4 ounces at most, lacking flavor. Thankfully, the smash burger technique provided a bit of caramelization to enhance the taste. However, I found two massive tomato slices on my burger that weren't cored correctly, and there was hardly any sauce, making it quite dry. The tempura tuna was also overly dry and seemed to be accompanied by nothing more than a generic Thai chili sauce that you could easily buy at a grocery store. While I understand it was a busy Friday, I believe a venue's true test is how they handle peak times. Overall, it’s an interesting concept, but I left feeling very disappointed given the money we spent. The value for takeout wasn’t there; you definitely need to stay and soak up the atmosphere to make it worthwhile.

The poke bowl was excellent. It had a refreshing, clean flavor, unlike other poke places that drown their dishes in sauce. However, the shed burger was smaller than I anticipated, and my friends left feeling unsatisfied with their meals. The service was nothing special—just average. I did notice that the restaurant could use some cleaning up, but that adds to the overall vibe of the place. It gets quite crowded, so I recommend arriving early if you plan to visit.

I'm glad we stopped at the Shed. There was and usually as a lineup to get into this place for a reason. I tried their burger and fries, and it was exceptional. Decided to eat on the outside near the ordering window, which was actually kind of cool. I love the decor and it was very impressive that the person taking our order spoke English and French fluently. Great service, fun place to be, and great food.
