We got the #16 #18. Service was friendly and quick! We enjoyed the food so much we went back again before we left Toronto and got our own #1s and split a #24. The broth of the Kalguksu was simple but very tasty the noodles were soft and chewy. Having their Kalguksu was warming my soul! The pork was also good but the star was the Bossam! The pieces were so soft and tender and the sauces- especially the shrimp sauce- with the house kimchi was everythingggg!
W tastes good. Nice ambiance and service is nice I guess. For me the food is the most important though especially for Asian restaurants.Kalguksu: Tastes good and hearty I mean it's noodles. Broth is slightly spicy and a good amount of salty, and the noodles are sproingy. 7.3/10Bulgogi: Tastes like typical run of the mill bulgogi. 6.9/10Kimchi for some reason is really sweet and crunchy, but not very fermented or sour. Probably the sweetest kimchi I've had for a korean restaurant.
Value, tons of food for good fair price. Everything seasoned well. Good variety of sides and they included kimchi. Albeit a little small, not a lot of seats for how popular they are, they manage.
Basing off of two experiences. The service is really fast and direct. It is a very busy and smaller space but staff are always readily available to help you so you don’t have any negative feelings of being ignored, etc.I dropped my chopsticks, staff noticed, and brought me a new one without having to ask.The side dishes and kimchi are seasoned very well. I like the individual little pot of kimchi concept. The sizing of the king dumplings speaks for itself. The only thing I’d note is the medium size of the bossam is fairly smaller portion than I anticipated (second photo), but still worth it.
Went to Jin Myungdong for dinner with minimal expectations, and now it has become one of my go-to places for some serious korean dumpling eating. Their kimchi side dish was exceptionally fresh and their king dumplings were so delicious...highly recommend ordering the one with kimchi. If you want to try both regular and kimchi dumplings ask for half and half. Also tried their Bulgogi Jungsik set meal which was good but not memorable. Their cold buckwheat noodle Mul Naengmyun was ok but would taste better with soup mixed in with the noodles. Prices are reasonable and their service is great. The restaurant is better for smaller groups since space is limited and they close relatively early so make sure to go earlier.
